Chapter 3 Blocked
Chapter 3: Blocked
“Having trouble finding a spot? I’ll go and help…”
Noticing Ethan’s rather unpleasant expression, Charlie finally realized something belatedly. “Uh…Ethan, Summer…she hasn’t come back, has she?”
It had already been over three hours.
Ethan shrugged.“Come back? You think breakups are just for fun?”
After saying that, he walked past Charlie and went to sit on the sofa.
Charlie scratched his head. No way, was it for real this time? But soon he shook his head, thinking that he was probably overthinking it.
He believed that Ethan was capable of really breaking up just like that; but Summer…
It was a universally accepted fact in their circle: every woman on Earth might agree to a breakup, except Summer.
“Ethan, why are you alone?” Garrett, always eager to stir up some drama, folded his arms, a smirk playing on his lips. “Your three–hour bet? It’s been a whole day now.”
Ethan smirked. I lose. What’s the penalty?”
Garrett raised an eyebrow.“Let’s change the rules. No drinking this time.”
Ethan:“What?”
Garrett:“Call Summer. Tell her, in the sweetest voice possible: I’m sorry, I was wrong, I love you.“”
“Hahaha…
Immediately, everyone around burst into laughter.
Charlie directly snatched Ethan’s phone and dialed Summer.
After a few rings, a recorded message: “Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable…”
Was this… being blocked?
Ethan was slightly taken aback.
Gradually, the laughter of the others died down, and they began to look at each other in confusion.
Charlie immediately hung up the phone. While returning the phone to Ethan, he tried to make up for it by saying, “Well… maybe it’s really just unavailable. There’s no way Summer would block you, Ethan. Unless it rains red from the sky, haha-*
By the end of his words, he himself felt rather embarrassed.
Garrett seemed to be thinking about something. “Maybe Summer is serious about this break–up
this time.”
Ethan scoffed with contempt. “If the breakup wasn’t real, what was it? A game? I don’t want to play this game a second time. From now on, whoever dares to mention Summer again, don’t blame me for ending our friendship.”
Garrett narrowed his eyes, finally saying. Just don’t regret it.”
Ethan curled his lips again, hot taking it seriously at all.”
He never regretted his decisions.
Seeing the tension, Sean quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Hey, don’t make it so serious, guys… We’re all brothers after all…”
Seven AM. Raina returned from her morning run, greeted by the aroma of cooking food.
Summer emerged from the kitchen, carrying a bowl of hot porridge, clad in a chic houndstooth dress that showcased her long, slender legs. Without any makeup on, she still looked incredibly beautiful.
“Go take a shower quickly. After that, come and have breakfast.”
Raina: “Huh? You’ve changed your hairstyle? A high ponytail with long, straight black hair? Dressed up so nicely. Are you planning to go back? Or is Ethan coming to pick you up?”
Summer:“Ha! Can you just wish me something good for once?”
Raina:“If Ethan comes to pick you up on his own initiative, isn’t that something good?” Raina. walked to the table and found that the breakfast was extremely sumptuous.
Summer slapped Raina’s outstretched hand filthy.”
away. “Go shower, you’r
Raina: You’re so biased! You never hit Ethan when he used his hands.”
Summer:“Yeah, I’ll definitely hit him next time if I get the chance.”
Raina: “Like I’d believe you…
When Raina emerged from the shower, Summer was already leaving with a thermos.
Raina:“Ugh, she clearly made breakfast for me but still didn’t forget to take some for that guy. What a friend who values guys more than friends…”
West Capital Hospital, private room:
“White, how are you feeling today?”
Professor Mia White put down her paper, adjusting her reading glasses. “Heath? What are doing here?!”
“Don’t move. Don’t move,” Cody Heath quickly stuffed a pillow behind her. “Your wound hasn’t healed yet.
“It’s just appendicitis, a minor operation. But I’m old, and my recovery ability isn’t good, so the doctor has kept me here for so many days. By the way, have the master’s enrollment quotas

this year been announced in the school?”
“Yes. You have three, and I have four.”
Three…” Professor White murmured.
Cody Heath:“Still only taking two this year?”
Professor White:“Yes, I’m getting old, can only handle two.”
Cody Heath scoffed. She knew that quota was specifically reserved for her, but she wouldn’t
admit it.
“Professor White–Professor Heath, you’re here too?” David Hill entered with two junior students, carrying fruit and flowers.“We’re here to visit you.”
During the casual chat, one of the students mentioned, “I heard that there’s an amazing freshman this year. She directly got the qualification for the combined undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral program in our college.”
The Harvard University Life Sciences department hadn’t seen more than three direct–entry students in the last decade.
PhD
…Apparently, this freshman won gold medals in both the International Mathematical Olympiad and the International Informatics Olympiad last year, securing a direct admission into our department.”
“Two gold medals? That’s quite good too. I remember there was a senior student. I think she was Professor White’s student. When she entered as an undergraduate, she already had four gold medals in her hands, covering math, physics, chemistry, and computer science! Her name seemed to be Sum… Summer something…”
“It’s getting late!” Cody Heath quickly interrupted. “You guys should go back to school first.”
“Oh, okay… Then we’ll leave now.”
“Yeah.”
After walking out of the room, that student looked downcast.“Professor Hill, did I say something wrong? Why did Professor White and Professor Heath seem so unhappy?”
David Hill was also looking puzzled.
Back in the room:
Cody Heath: “Those students didn’t mean anything, don’t overthink it.”
Professor White waved her hand, but her lips couldn’t stop trembling, Tears welled up in her eyes and finally couldn’t be held back, flowing down her cheeks.
“Someone with her kind of talent shouldn’t… shouldn’t have done that! But why… why didn’t she cherish her talent?”
Cody Heath said, “Don’t get too excited…”
“Heath, do
do you
know what she said to me the last time we met? She said she wanted love… Haha,

she wanted love? She broke my heart…”
Summer stood at the door of the ward, clutching the thermos tightly in her hand. Tears also flowed down her face.
I’m so sorry… Professor White….
In the end, she still didn’t have the courage to go in. She left the thermos at the nurses‘ station and said, “This is for Professor White. Please help me give it to her. Thank you.”
“Wait–you haven’t registered your information yet! Where are you going?
Summer ran out of the inpatient building all at once, gasping for fresh air. But that suffocating feeling of guilt still lingered and wouldn’t go away.
“Summer Miller?” A tall and elegant woman wearing high heels and carrying a classic Dior five–grid Lady Dior bag walked over.
She was dressed in a suit jacket paired with a pencil skirt, with her straight hair hanging down her shoulders, looking intellectual from head to toe.
It was Ana Hayes, Ethan’s younger sister.
“It’s really you? Why aren’t you at home and came to the hospital instead?” She glanced at the building in front of her.
It was the inpatient department. Judging from it, she probably wasn’t here for obstetrics.
She secretly let out a sigh of relief for her mother.
If Summer was really pregnant and they had to have a shotgun wedding because of it, her mother, Zoey Wilson, would surely be fainted from anger.
“Ana,” Summer managed to force out a weak smile.
“Why are your eyes red? Have you been crying?”
Summer didn’t say anything.
“Another fight with my brother?”
“No.”
Ana just thought that Summer was being stubborn and couldn’t help showing a bit of sympathy in her eyes.
Actually, she quite liked Summer. She was good–looking and had a nice personality.
Unfortunately, compared to the standards of the Hayes family, she still fell a bit short.
Especially their mother, Zoey Wilson, attached great importance to education and only favored top university graduates to be her daughter–in–law.
“It must be tiring being with my brother, right? He has a bad temper, you should be more patient.”
Summer: Actually, we’ve already broken…”

Ana said quickly, I’ve got something to do. I won’t chat with you any longer.” After saying that, she checked the time and walked towards the building.
She was here to visit Professor White. She’d heard that the professor liked smart and well–behaved students, so she’d deliberately dressed up nicely for this visit.
Whether she could get the direct–entry doctoral quota or not depended on this visit…
