Five years later
Going back home was a mixed feeling- nostalgia for the familiar surroundings but also a sense of unease knowing Owen could still be out there somewhere. And I was correct, because the moment my feet stepped off the plane, I saw him standing at the airport entrance, a banner in hand with my name on it, saying, “Welcome back, Aleli!”
“How did he even know that we’re coming back, and at this exact time?” my wolf whispered in my mind.
Since there was no other direction to go, I cautiously approached him. Although before he could hug me, a huge man blocked his way.

Before Owen could react, I wrapped my arms around the man and turned to Owen with a soft smile, saying, “This is my mate and husband, Prince Liam of the Onyx

Proud of my introduction of him, Liam said, “Is this the man you have told me about?”
Owen’s mouth parted, and the banner dropped from his hands as he stared in shock at Liam. Faking a laugh, he glared at me. “I know this is just a joke, Aleli. You would really hire someone just to pretend to be your husband? I know you can’t replace me as your alpha and as your mate.
