The applause intensified. They looked like a couple in love. Julia averted her gaze and left. It didn’t matter; she was leaving in thirteen days. Let them have it. She would just leave gracefully. After giving her promotion application to Director Thompson, Julia returned to her desk to pack up her belongings. She overheard coworkers gossiping.
“I remember Sierra is Captain Mond’s ex. His first kiss, his first time… it was all with her. It’s been so many years and he still has a thing for her.”

Julia’s heart pounded. Shaw’s devotion to his ex made sense now.
She continued packing. Just as she was about to leave, a flight attendant, Lily, approached. “Julia, our department is having a welcome party for Sierra. Come with us!”
Before Julia could refuse, Lily dragged her to the car.

Julia heard two colleagues talking as they approached a private room.
“It’s really amazing Shaw and Sierra are together again. Years ago, when Sierra was sent abroad for training, Shaw almost quit flying to go with her. If the executives hadn’t stopped him, his career would have been over.”
“Yeah. Now that Sierra’s back, they can finally be together!”
Julia clenched her fists. She felt pathetic. She’d thought the love she got wasn’t. It was Sierra who had taught him how to love.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Sierra, your senior.” The double meaning was clear. Julia found it ironic. Didn’t they already know each other on social media?
Julia nodded curtly and
sat down. Shaw’s attention
was completely on Sierra.
Julia made an excuse and left. As she left, she heard Sierra say to Shaw, “Our co–pilot doesn’t seem to like me. She left without eating.”
Shaw didn’t respond, but others did. “Just ignore her. Everyone knows Awave of murmurs followed. Sierra said, “Don’t say that. We’re all colleagues now.” Julia smirked. Everyone thought Shaw and Sierra were a perfect couple. She was just a pathetic woman who couldn’t get what she wanted. But soon, she’d be gone. Their relationship was never public.
