Second Chance at Love Novel 50

Chapter 50

I opened my mouth, the words right there on the tip of my tongue, but they wouldn’t come out. My hand gripped the edge of Ethan’s jacketunsure if I wanted to push him away or pull him closer. Ethan took my hesitation as an answer

He leaned down, pressing a kiss to the side of my neck, then my collarbone, and finally teasing the most sensitive spot on my body

His slow, deliberate movements felt like a challenge, daring me to stop him, testing the limits of my selfcontrol

Claire,he murmured, his voice softer now, almost tender. His lips hovered just above mine, close enough that I could feel the warmth of his breath, yet he held back

The tension made my chest tighten, my breathing uneven and shaky

Finally, he closed the distance, kissing me. It started gentle, almost cautious, but quickly grew into something more

His control shattered, and his kisses became fierce, full of the longing he’d kept bottled up for years

His hands slid to my hips, gripping me firmly and pulling me against him. The hardness of his body contrasted sharply with the softness of mine, sending shivers racing through me

My fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him even closer. He let out a low groan, a sound that vibrated through my chest and left me breathless

Claire,he whispered again, his voice thick with need. His lips trailed along my jawline and down my neck, leaving a trail of heat in their wake

Do you want this?he asked, his voice hoarse but steady, as if he already knew my answer. His intense gaze locked onto mine, piercing and unrelenting, like he could see straight into

my soul

Forsaken Me

Chapter 50

Yes. The word barely escaped my lips, but it was enough for him

In one swift motion, he lifted me off the ground. My legs instinctively wrapped around his waist as he pressed me against the cold elevator wall. The heat radiating from his body was overwhelming, threatening to melt me completely

He kissed me again, this time with a hunger that left no room for hesitation. His hands roamed over my body, as if memorizing every inch of me

Then the elevator chimed, the sound breaking through the haze like a cold splash of water

The doors slid open, and reality rushed back. We froze, our heavy breaths the only sound in the quiet hallway

My cheeks burned as he gently set me down, though his hands lingered on my waist, unwilling to let go

Let’s go,he said, his voice rough, laced with unspoken promises. His dark eyes held mine, deep and unwavering, as if to say this wasn’t over

My legs felt like jelly as I stepped out of the elevator, unsteady and dazed. What the hell just happened

Without looking back, I ran down the hallway, Ethan’s low chuckle echoing behind me

Even after I got home, my face still burned with embarrassment. Damn it, Ethanhe’d gotten so much better at this

Exhaustion took over quickly, and I collapsed on the couch, falling into a restless sleep

Vivid images filled my dreams, so real I couldn’t tell if they were memories or just my imagination

It was Marchthe season of blooming flowers and singing birds

I had been preparing for my father’s funeral in a small, remote village, staying in a rundown old house

Vivid images filled my dreams, so real I couldn’t tell if they were memories or just my imagination

It was Marchthe season of blooming flowers and singing birds

I had been preparing for my father’s funeral in a small, remote village, staying in a rundown old house

Chapter 50

The place creaked with every gust of wind, its wooden walls thin and drafty. It was so cold that even Harry Potter’s cupboard under the stairs would’ve seemed luxurious

Ethan had shown up unexpectedly that evening

The thought of him in such a place was almost funny. He was an Alphadignified and commandingand this shabby house felt beneath him. I couldn’t help but feel a little

embarrassed

That night was eerily quiet. At some point during my restless sleep, I felt something warm

beside me

I screamed

Fumbling for a candle, I lit it and turned to see Ethan lying next to me. One arm was draped

over my waist, his head resting on my shoulder, a peaceful smile on his sleeping face

I exploded

Why can’t you leave me alone? Even here? Is this my life nowconstantly being harassed

by you?”

Ethan, still halfasleep, brushed off my anger like it was nothing. He claimed he had a fever

that it was freezing outside, and that he hadn’t meant to intrude. For an Alpha, he sounded almostapologetic

But how could he know what kind of day I’d had

If he hadn’t come, I might’ve spent the night clutching my father’s photo, lost in silence and grief. Maybe I would’ve spiraled into a darkness I couldn’t escape

But he had shown upjust in timelike the soft glow of a sunset on an otherwise bleak evening

Claire, what’s wrong? Tell me,he had asked that night, his tone insistent but gentle

I couldn’t answer

Forsaken Mate: Alpha’s Second Chance at Love

Chapter 50

He kept asking, his voice shifting from soft to impatient, from tender to desperate. His hand pressed against my wrist, burning hot, proof of the fever he’d mentioned

Go back. Don’t come here again

I wanted to say those words. I wanted to push him away and shut him out. But the grief in my chest made it impossible to speak

When morning came, we parted ways. Ethan left angry, his pride as an Alpha wounded by my silence

I watched as he shifted into his wolf form and let out a furious howl, clawing deep marks into the dirt road outside my housea sign of his anger and determination

Later that day, as I set out to fulfill my father’s final wishes, I was intercepted by one of the pack’s elder Betas

No amount of struggling helped

He threw me into a cage filled with vultures and wild beasts. I was nothing more than livestocktrapped, helpless, and powerless…

But I never expected him to come back to me, eve
