“My fiancée was accused of hitting someone, so I came over to check on it.” Calvert’s voice was cold and distant, with a strong presence that was hard to ignore.
Hearing this, Shane’s heart skipped a beat. Calvert had always been very possessive. He wouldn’t touch others‘ things or let anyone touch his. But now, calling Ash his fiancée meant he clearly saw her as his own.
Shane suddenly panicked. In the time he had been away, it seemed Calvert might have developed feelings for that woman.
However, she hadn’t cleared herself of the suspicion of trying to kill Calvert.
No matter what he thought, Calvert had already taken long strides forward.
The officer at the reception welcomed them inside and then turned to call the chief.
Two members of Riverstone’s four major families had come today, and one of them was the future heir of the Snider family. He didn’t dare to be disrespectful at all.
After taking their statements, the interrogator glanced at the two vastly different confessions and felt a bit overwhelmed.
“You have to report everything you did today.” The interrogator faced Ash and Samantha with a solemn expression.
“Officer, isn’t it obvious enough? The injuries on my body are all caused by her.” Samantha could not understand why the police did not arrest the woman beside her.
The interrogator looked down at Ash’s transcript again and then asked, “Ms. Turner said you spread rumors about her first and humiliated her in public. You violated her privacy and dignity. She claims she was just defending herself. Do you have any objections to this?”
“That’s not true!” Samantha stood up, her voice filled with anger. “Are you protecting her just because she’s the mistress of the chairman of Shadow Ventures? There’s surveillance footage proving she assaulted me. Why isn’t she arrested yet?”
Watching her shout, Ash couldn’t help but smile slightly. With a calm tone, she said, “Officer, even here in the police station, she’s openly spreading rumors about me. Clearly, she was the one who instigated the trouble first.”
“I’m telling the truth! How can you call it a rumor? If you dare to do it yourself, why don’t you let others say it?” Samantha grew even angrier, feeling deeply provoked by the calm and composed demeanor of Ash.
“You say I’m a mistress. What proof do you have?” Ash asked.
“Everyone knows about this. What evidence do we need?” Samantha hurriedly added when she met the interrogator’s disapproving gaze. “That time in front of Shadow Ventures, the chairman even gifted you a Rolls Royce with a starlight roof. Everyone saw it! I still have the photos on my phone, so you can’t deny it!”
Ash couldn’t help but smirk. If Calvert knew that the gift from her grandmother was being treated as something given by another man, she couldn’t imagine how furious he would be.
“That car was given by my fiancé,” Ash said calmly. “I believe the police will give a fair judgment to those who framed me.”
“Impossible! You can’t even keep Tristan. How can a man give you a Rolls Royce? Fiancé? I think you’re daydreaming!” Samantha shot back immediately.
The interrogator spoke sternly, “Samantha, you need evidence to make such claims. If you can’t prove that Ms. Turner has an improper relationship with the chairman of Shadow Ventures, then you are the one instigating trouble.”
The police obtained video footage from a high–end custom cake shop, which had excellent audio quality, allowing their conversation to be clearly heard. The recording clearly showed that Samantha was the one who spoke harshly first.

Hearing this, Samantha was momentarily stunned. She had believed that the bruises on her body were the best evidence, but she never expected the police to take this approach.
“This is clearly the truth! What more evidence do you need?” She could only repeat her previous sentence,
At that moment, Ash stood up from her chair and said to the interrogator, “Officer, I can get in touch with the chairman of Shadow Ventures. He can prove my innocence.”
With that, she made a call.
The interrogator’s expression softened slightly. In Riverstone, the chairman of Shadow Ventures held a status similar to that of the heads of the four major families, wielding control over one–sixth of the economic lifeline of Riverstone. So, the police station did not want to offend such a powerful figure unless absolutely necessary.
Since the woman before them was willing to reach out for negotiation, they no longer had to worry about offending anyone.
In the hallway outside the interrogation room, Calvert stood there in a tailored black suit, exuding an impressive aura. Beside him were his assistant and two police officers.
At that moment, a man walked in through the entrance of the hallway.
Calvert looked up, his expression tightening. ‘Why is the chairman of Shadow Ventures here?”
However, William kept his head down with a nervous expression. He walked straight ahead and did not notice him at all.
“Excuse me, officer, where is Ash Turner?” William asked.
Even though William’s voice was very controlled, Calvert could tell the anxiety and worry in his eyes at a glance.
After receiving the police’s answer, William quickly headed toward the interrogation room without hesitation.
Calvert’s face darkened even more. Ash was truly captivating to have the chairman of Shadow Ventures care about her so much.
He took a step forward, following closely, but as he reached the door of the interrogation room, he suddenly realized what he was doing.

He was actually about to burst in and question her about her relationship with that man.
He quickly reminded himself that their relationship was just a fleeting affair, so he had no reason to care so much about her. But then he recalled the scene at the auction. Ash had clearly promised to come to him if she needed money. But now, she chose to approach that old man instead of him. He did not know what she thought of him.
Calvert stared intently at the door of the interrogation room, giving off a chill that could freeze anyone nearby.
“Mr. Snider, I don’t know you’re here. I apologize for not welcoming you properly,” said the police chief, stepping out with a serious expression and a hint of respect.
Calvert looked away and replied coldly, “I came along with someone to take a look. Don’t mind me, just handle everything fairly.”
“That’s good to hear. Thank you for cooperating with our work,” the chief said, finally relaxing his tense expression.
He had originally worried that Calvert might try to bribe the police, which was something they would never do. But if he was just here to take a look, then it wouldn’t be a problem for him.
In the interrogation room, upon seeing William walk in, Ash said to the interrogator in a calm tone, “This is the chairman of Shadow Ventures. You can ask him directly if there is any improper relationship between us.”
