The rest of the day went by in a blur, with celebrations rocking the once dead kingdom. There was loppiness within the walls of Asmoria and everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives. There was music, the w e day and night, as the Lycans enjoyed having their queen. It was something that no one could deny, not even the alpha who had shown up with great interest.
In the one month that the Lycans spent celebrating. Alpha Bashir did everything he could, to try and get a chance to talk to the queen, however, Ralph had made her stance clear. She wanted nothing to do with him. Bashir was a threat to her relationship with Miro. He was a threat to the stability that King Miroslav offered. He was the one person who could make it all crumble and Ralph didn’t want to risk that. She had never seen Hashir as more than a friend, but the alpha was clearly not taking the hint.
“You can’t avoid me forever, Shehzadi, Alpha Bashir said, on the last day of the crowning celebration. He looked like he had been in torture the whole time and while Ralph was tempted to teel terrible for him, she knew it wasn’t going to be worth it. So many lives would be at stake because of this and she couldn’t risk it. She had to be the queen she had vowed to be and the Alpha needed to let go of what was
“Alpha Bashir. So nice to see you here. I hope you had a wonderful time with the celebrations Queen Raphine greeted the Alpha, with four of her high guards walking closely behind her. Kara was standing beside her queen, as was expected of the queen’s chosen. She was never going to leave Ralph’s side because even she didn’t want a repeat of the mess that Polina had pushed them into. It wasn’t pleasing to say the least and they needed to find a way to make sure that shit never repeated itself.
but
“Shehzadi. I’m glad I ran into you. Can we please have a talk?” Alpha Bashir requested; his tone so formal while Kara looked at her queen to give her the signal she needed to push this alpha away. Anyone could see the attraction in the alpha‘ eyes, no one was courageous enough to say shit, given he hadn’t actually done anything worth reprimanding.
They needed to face that truth for some time, while they waited for him to slip up. But would he really slip when he seemed to have worked for this for a long time? There was so much that could go wrong, so much that could be controlled differently and yet as they stood there with their queen, the high guards could only ever think of protecting their queen, thankfully.
“I don’t think there is anything we need to talk about, Bashir. Unless it’s an official matter which you will need to go to Ibrahim with. I was just crowned queen a month ago, and I am still trying to wrap my head around all that is happening. It might take a while for me to actually have a grasp of how the Lydan kingdom runs and the alliances. I hope you understand that, Ralphine said, and the alpha felt his jaw tick. He loved this woman; he knew she knew it too.
He could see her cold eyes stare at him and while that could have scared anyone, Bashir knew that was just Ralph’s way of protecting herself from uncertainties. He wanted to tell her that he wasn’t here to harm her, or cause her any chaos. However, a part of him was still hurting because she had chosen Miroslav. It was quite sad really how he had shown up so many years later and she was already taken, and that too because she had been harassed by her first mate and rejected. It just wasn’t fair to Ralph in the first place, but hey, no one was counting, right?
“Please–Alpha Bashir insisted, and Ralphine sighed.
“She already said no. Do you want us to spell it out for you before you quit bothering her? Perhaps you want a taste of what the high guards are made of, no?” Kara said threateningly, stepping before her queen, and the queen’s high guards instantly went into position ready to defend their queen. They all knew the pain Drescher had put their queen through, and they would not let anyone do the same to her. They were not going to let it happen, not when they could stop it.
“I mean no harm to your queen, warrior Kara. I know what the high guards can do and I know what it means for me if I do anything to upset her. Believe me this is for the both of us. You can ask the king. He knows we are friends from before Could you please,” Bashir said and Kara didn’t budge. If anything, it was like she didn’t even see him, well, she was seeing him and hearing him, but until the queen agreed to it, there was nothing the warriors would do other than keep the queen safe. And right now, it seemed an awful lot like the alpha himself was trying to make things harder for the queen.
“Oh. Hey Kara, you guys are here. Miroslav needs us in the throne room. It’s the last day of the festival and he needs to close it with a speech. Come along, we need to hurry,” Heion, who wapparently looking for their queen, said and Hashir sighed

knowingly. It was getting harder for him to have some time with the girl he loved but he wasn’t about to give up.

He knew Miroslav for the beast he was and he wasn’t going to let his best friend be mated to the man. But could he do anything about it? He was just a wolf and Miroslav was the deadly Lycan king. Bashir surely co ‘t risk an entire pack for Ralph, right? Well, it would have been easily believable if Drescher hadn’t taken Ralphine captive, and resulted in the deaths of almost three hundred wolves from Koslov. It was a hard gamble for them both, but what else could he do?
“We’ll be there, Heion,” Kara said and Heion just nodded before rushing in the direction of the throne room. They knew that the alpha before thein wasn’t allowed into the throne room again, so they waited to see what their queen would say or do Maybe she wanted to be here with Bashir, or maybe she would attend her husband’s call, yeah?
“Your Highness. Do you want us to deal with him?” Kara asked and Ralph sighed. She knew she couldn’t avoid Bashir forever, and the longer she kept at bay the crazier the woman gor, and who knew whether Bashir could go bonkers like Drescher had? There was no telling of so many things but perhaps this would make it better right?
“No, Kara, I will talk to him. Please mind link the king and tell him that I have some issues to attend to, and might not make it to the first address please. Thank you,” Ralph said and Bashir smiled softly. He wasn’t sure what this was, but he was glad to have the chance to talk to her. Ralph was undoubtedly a harder woman to reach and he was slowly learning that.
“Okay, your highness. The high guards and I will be exactly fifty feet from you. If you feel endangered, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Also, you can’t be out of our sight, especially with what had happened with Drescher earlier,” Kara said and that go the alpha’s attention.
He had been so coped up in watching Ralphine graciously stand there while she waited for her guard to speak, that he hadn’t realized that there was a reason that Ralph had been so adamant on staying away from him. Perhaps it was a traumatic response to something they couldn’t control or maybe this was their way of letting everyone know that their queen was well- protected and didn’t need anyone to keep her sane, other than her hand, right?
“Drescher? Drescher Volkov?” Bashir asked as he looked at Ralph, He couldn’t understand what the heck was going on, but he knew that the man in question, had to have done something so foolish for the high guards to be this strict with their queen? security. Now that he thought about it, Bashir had noticed that Ralphine’s security was tighter than the king’s, yet the king was the most powerful creature in the realm. It made no sense, but then things were slowly adding up. Perhaps if he was lucky, the wolf would get a reasonable explanation too, right?
“Yes The idiot that dared to kidnap our queen for an entire week just because she was mated to the king. When that bastard had one the one to reject the queen himself. Some people are brainless as fuck,” Kara said angrily before she realized that she was rambling. Perhaps this wasn’t fair to Bashir, but the man needed to understand how high the stakes were and what the risks were for them. It would be crazy enough for them to have a repeat of the same and honestly, they wouldn’t let it happen.
“Anyway, whatever this is, don’t even think of trying to kidnap her, because we will kill you, Alpha Bashir,” Kara added and the Mirza Alpha just raised his hands in surrender as he looked at his best friend,
For years, he had been the one to protect Ralph from the bullies. He had always saved her. He had been her shield, and he made her feel safe, even though it was like they were both outcasts. Bashir was never scared of getting hurt, if that meant protecting Ralphine, but hearing that someone actually hurt her was driving him crazy
He had hoped to see her but then she had been hurt because he. That was something he would always blame himself for, and right now maybe it was okay if he let the queen go. He needed to assess the situation, and try to figure out what the fuck was going on in the dark kingdom and the realm in its entirety.
“I won’t. Actually. I think I can talk to her later. It’s her first address with the king as the queen. It is important for her to be there. Please pardon me, if I have taken too much of your time, Your Highness. 171 go how,” Alpha Bashur said as he bowed to Ralphine, making the woman wonder what had gotten not the man. It was so unlike Bashir, but then she had a feeling that this had to do with Kara’s mention of Drescher. The idea itself was appealing to some extent and she hoped that there wouldn’t be any more wars. It didn’t matter that there was chaos headed their way. The only thing that muttered was that everything was in the right place.
“Are you sure Bashir? Ibrahim will understand if what you have to say is of importance, Ralph tried but she could see that Bashir had made up his mind. Unlike earlier when he was looking at her with love and light in his eyes, this time, she could

see anger in them, one that wasn’t directed to her. This Alpha had always been her protector. But surely the alpha couldn’t be gearing for a battle when Ralph had the world’s strongest army rallied behind her right?
“Yes, I am. Shehzadi. I will find time and talk to the king about what I need. I’ll be sure to loop you in too. But for now, your
their queen. people need you. They need to see how strong you are, and how good a decision the king made for making you So go, Shehzadi. Go be the queen Asmoria needs. I need to clean me some litter,” Bashir said and Ralph instantly understood that last statement.
It was the same thing that the alpha always said whenever he was going to deal with people that had hurt Ralphine. He was always brutal, always doing the worst to everyone. Eventually, people stopped coming at Ralphine. However, when he left for the human lands, she went back to being the girl without a protector anymore. Well, he was back, right?
“Okay, be well.”
“You too, Shehzadi,” Alpha Bashir said before saying, “Kara, please take care of Meri Shehzadi. Don’t cause her any pain or the realm will pay the price for it.”
