The kidnapper forced me to make a phone call, and I cried uncontrollably into the receiver, begging him to come.
Originally, Nico and Rosalie had been on their way to the airport, but in the end, Nico turned the car around. Reluctantly, he struck a deal with the kidnapper to save me.
Shaken, I fainted in his arms and was rushed to the hospital.
However, that very night, Nico received Rosalie’s body at the hospital.
It turned out that after being abandoned by him by the roadside, Rosalie was heartbroken and, not paying attention, was struck by a vehicle from behind. Her body was so mangled that her face was unrecognizable.
Nico stayed in the morgue with her body for three whole days and nights, refusing to eat or drink.
Afterward, he picked me up from the hospital, and everything returned to how it was before.
He took me to various parties as usual, picked me up to watch movies after work, and even suggested taking me to Iceland for a getaway.
At that time, I was naïve enough to believe that Rosalie’s impact on him had finally faded.
On the cruise ship in Iceland, as I gazed up at the aurora, a sudden sharp pain shot through my chest.
Nico, holding a knife, looked at me with hatred so intense it felt like it would burn me alive.
“Why wasn’t it you who died, and instead, it was Rosalie? Why do you get to survive?!”
The pain overwhelmed me, and I collapsed to the floor. The next moment, he yanked my hair and dragged me to the edge of the deck, forcing me to look at him.
“Speak, Evelynn! It was you who killed Rosalie, wasn’t it? Why did you have to call me away, why?!”
I wanted to shake my head and explain that it wasn’t my fault, but the agony in my heart
