Chapter 8
For some reason, even though Betty had already instructed the PR team to make sure that Irvin stopped tren–ling on Twitter, they simply couldn’t seem to stop the news from spreading at all. It was as if someone was deliberately pushing for the news to spread.
“Oh my god..I used to think that Irvin Steed was really handsome. So he looks like that without a filter? How horrifying!”
“And worse still, he’s with someone like Rainie Jackson! Have you seen her complexion? It’s as bad as an old woman’s!”
“These two couldn’t even get their story straight. One said they happened to run into each other while the other said they went to discuss a script.”
“Seriously though, who on earth discusses a script at a cemetery
Even the people Irvin hired to defend him and write nice things about hiin online couldn’t drown out the nasty comments.
Whitney had witnessed the negative power of the internet in her previous life, so now, she was harnessing it to use on someone else instead.
“How does it feel to be subject to this, Irvin Steed? Rainie Jackson” she chuckled to herself.
The continued rise in retweets and comments online made Whitney smile in satisfaction at the wonderful job she had done.
Whimey! Whitney, are you at home? Whitney! There was a stall commotion coming from outside the house before clear and familiar voice hit Whitney’s ears,
Whitney smiled and slowly stood up to walk out.
“Whitney! I know you’re here! Tell them to let me in! They refuse to let me in to see you!” Rainie’s eyes lit up when she saw Whitney appear at the door as if Whitney was her savior. She was really scared of the frightening–looking bodyguards who were blocking her way.
Whitney had no expression on her face as she asked, “Why are you here?” In other words, Whitney had no intention of letting Rainie into the house.
T’ve come to see you. My parents miss you and they asked when you’d be able to visit them.” A thought suddenly hit Rainie and she let out a gasp. “Oh no! Whitney, did Julius Latreille lock you up inside the house and not allow you to go out?”
Immediately after she said that, she felt like the bodyguards were about to throw her out
When she looked back at Whitney, Whitney was still expressionless, but she looked down at the floor as if Rainie had guessed it right.
“Mrs. Latreille, I’ll chase her
now.” Number 7 walked over from nowhere.

“No, let her in,” said Whitney after a brief moment of hesitation. She sounded like she was somewhat looking forward to what Rainie would do after coming in.
Nobody expected Whitney to say that. All of them froze, unsure of what to do.
Whitney stared at all of them and they all stepped aside to let Rainie through.
Rainie thought that Whitney was letting her in because Whitney wanted to confide in her. If she was not allowed out of the house, that would explain her strange tone of voice over the phone and why she didn’t turn up earlier.
Rainie thought she had guessed it right and walked towards Whitney confidently, while Whitney just smiled in a

suspiciously friendly manner at her. “Come on in.”
Number 7 and Number 9 exchanged glances. Number 9 nodded lightly at Number 7 and both of them instantly vanished from sight.
The opulence of the house immediately caught Rainie’s attention as she stepped in. Everything inside was so expensive.
If Julius weren’t such a scary man, she would have happily married him, thought Rainie to herself.
After Whitney walked back into the living room, she plopped herself down on the couch without bothering to ask Rainie to take a seat or call for anyone to serve her tea.
But Rainie wasn’t concerned with such things now. She put on her most righteous sounding voice and said, “Good heavens! Julius Latreille is simply inhumane! So, you didn’t come out to feet us because he didn’t let you out of the house?!”
Number 7 had just arrived at the door with a recording device in hand and couldn’t help but gasp at what Rainie just said. Where did she find the guts to say something like that about Julius?
Whitney’s response was completely different from what Rainie expected. Whitney slowly took a sip of tea before saying “That’s not what happened. I’m the one who didn’t want to go out.
Number 7 was really surprised by that answer.
Rainie was equally bewildered and it took her several seconds to process what Whitney just said.
Did you know that Irvie ended up receiving bad press and is now trending on Twitter because of you?” Rainie couldn’t believe Whitney’s attitude and raised her voice at Whitney,
Whitney’s first response was to frown. It was hard to tell if it was because she was upset that Rainie was shouting at her or because she heard Irvin’s name being mentioned.
Whitney was a very pretty young lady with a beautiful pair of large eyes and intricate facial features. Frowning made her long lashes flutter slightly and she looked more like a painting.
But this beauty also had an aggressive stare, which made her seem less delicate than one might imagine.
“So what if he’s trending? What’s that got to do with me?” Whitney rubbed her ears and sulked.
Rainie realized that Whitney was behaving like this because she was upset with Irvin, so Rainie began to coax her in a gentle voice, “Whitney, I know you’re in a bad mood. Is it because Irvie didn’t support your decision to divorce Julius? But think about it this way. Julius is a very powerful man while Irvie is merely a low–ranking celebrity. Of course, Irvie wouldn’t dare to offend Julius. He can’t afford to.”
“So don’t be angry anymore, alright? Irvie still cares a lot about you. I know you must be feeling very lonely after being trapped inside this bungalow all by yourself,” said Rainie in a very sympathetic voice, as if she truly felt bad for Whitney
Whitney quietly continued to watch Rainie put on her act. She didn’t say anything and looked away, so Rainie wasn’t sure what she was thinking about.
Since she didn’t protest, Rainie assumed she had hit the nail on the head, so she continued, Julius Latreille is a real monster. He must be someone used to using violence on others. I can’t believe he’s done this to you..”
Before she could finish her sentence, Whitney kicked her aside with all her might..
That was something Whitney had wanted to do for a long time now.
There was nobody else in the living room, so the sound of Whitney’s shoes clicking against the floor echoed loudly as Whitney walked towards Rainie. Rainie was still lying on the floor and was still confused as to what just happened.

Rainie struggled to sit up as Whitney approached her, so Whitney kicked her back to the floor again.
“Rainie Jackson, did you think I still haven’t figured out what the two of you are up to? I just can’t be bothered to entertain both of you. But you,” said Whitney as she slowly squatted down to snap at Rainie, “you shouldn’t have slandered my husband.”
“Aren’t you aren’t you…” Rainie couldn’t finish her sentence as Whitney wrapped her hands around Rainie’s neck. Whitney pulled Rainie off the floor and hissed into her ear, “Archt you what? Huh? I thought Id deal with you slowly, but unfortunately, you came running to look for me first, and worse still, you even insulted my husband.”
“Go back and tell Irvin Steed that I will not write any more scripts for him. Do you think I’m stupid? Ha!”
Then she flung Rainie back onto the floor as if she was something filthy. She then realized that the bodyguards had come in when they heard Rainie shout at Whitney and they were now staring at Whitney with their eyes and mouths wide open
They were well aware of how destructive Whitney could be since she used to smash all the furniture in the house. But they didn’t expect her to be so violent. The ruthless kick she gave Rainie was pretty terrifying too
“What are all of you standing there for? Throw her back to Irvin Steed’s house.” Whitney’s voice sounded commandeering as she stared at the flabbergasted bodyguards in the living room.
All of them finally snapped out of their daze and quickly carried Rainie out.
Whitney was wiping her slim fingers very carefully when Julius came home.
The entire bungalow was deathly silent as if something terrible had just happened.
And it was true that something unbelievable had just happened
