“I’m not here to stop this wedding. I’m here to tell you all the truth.”
I could feel Liam’s eyes burning into me. He stepped in front of Sarah, his hands gripping hers tightly, his voice a desperate plea.
“What are you doing, Ava? Get down from there. Please, just go! Don’t do this.”
I shoved him back, my voice shaking with anger. “Don’t you dare tell me what to do! When did we ever agree on any of this?”
“We’re over, Liam. We’re done!”
Liam stared at me, his face pale. “You’re serious?”
I scoffed. “I’m always serious with you, Liam. Unlike you, I don’t lie. We’re over.”
The room was silent, everyone staring at us with a mixture of shock and amusement. They
were waiting for Liam’s response, especially Sarah’s family and friends.
He had probably presented himself as a golden bachelor, a kind, generous soul who was going above and beyond to fulfill his dying love’s wish.
A wave of indignation washed over me as I realized how effectively he’d manipulated
everyone.
Liam looked around at the expectant faces, at a loss for words. He had been caught
red–handed.
I took a deep breath, deciding to end this charade once and for all.
“I’m not here to cause a scene. I’m here to congratulate the happy couple. And to announce
that we are officially over.”
I turned to Liam, my gaze as cold as ice. “I, for one, don’t believe in living a lie. I’m not capable of whispering sweet nothings to one woman while betraying another. I’m not capable of forcing my girlfriend of seven years to play pretend with me. I have more respect for myself than that!”

Liam’s face turned an interesting shade of purple as I spoke. He averted his gaze, unable to
meet anyone’s eyes.
The guests erupted in a frenzy, demanding answers. Sarah’s family and friends were especially vocal, surrounding Liam, bombarding him with questions, their voices growing
louder.
They thought he was a prince, a man of his word. But now his carefully constructed facade was crumbling, revealing the manipulative liar beneath.
The crowd closed in on him, and he shrank back, his face a mask of confusion and panic.
He’d been caught in his web of lies.
Taking advantage of the commotion, I slipped out.
But before I could reach the exit, Liam grabbed my wrist, his voice a mixture of desperation
and anger. “Ava, what the hell was that? You can’t just… break up with me like this! We’re in
too deep!”
“You’re breaking up with me? You think you have a choice?”
He tightened his grip, his eyes blazing. “After everything, you think you can just walk away?”
I tried to pull away, but his grip was like a vise. “Let me go!” I hissed.
“Enough, Ava!” he roared.
“No, Liam, you’re the one who needs to stop! You’re the one who’s been living a lie!”
He closed his eyes, as if in pain, then said in a defeated voice, “I’m sorry, okay? Can we just talk? Please? Don’t be like this.”
I knew Liam. He was stubborn as hell. Once he set his mind to something, he’d see it through, no matter the cost.
I stared at him, waiting for his next move.
