Chapter8
He put on a deeply emotional performance, but not a word of it did I believe.
“Well, that’s your own fault for being blind at the wrong time. Now that you can see, it’s too
te.”
With that, I turned to leave, but it seemed Christian was determined not to let go. Without
warning, he dropped to his knees in front of me.
Robert gasped.
“Young Master Torres, this is too much.” He moved to pull Christian up, but Christian refused, his eyes glistening with tears.
“Margaret, please, I beg you. You’re the only one who can help me now. If you’re willing to help me get back on my feet, I swear I’ll treat you a thousand times better, I’ll make it up to you. I know you’re with him just to spite me, but deep down, you’ve always had feelings for mẹ, haven’t you?”
I smirked, uninterested, as the fish took the bait.
“I can help you.”
Christian’s eyes brightened as if seeing a glimmer of hope.
“But I’m a businesswoman, and I only help in business ways. Your company is on the brink of bankruptcy. There’s no point in dragging this out; it will only worsen. You can’t afford to support it anymore–financially, physically, or with manpower. I’m willing to offer five million for the acquisition. You can use that to start fresh. It’s better than sinking deeper
into debt.”
Torres Enterprises is beyond saving in Christian’s hands, but I can bring it back to life and expand my own business empire.
Five million may not seem much to him, but it’s not insignificant either. Given the

circumstances, it’s likely his best option.
Seeing his hesitation, I continued,
“This is the only way I can help you. You need to decide quickly, or it’ll be too late. If you wait, I may not be able to help you anymore.”
Christian bit down on his jaw, weighing the pros and cons, before finally giving in.

He seemed about to say something else, but I didn’t wait for him to speak and quickly
turned to leave.
The
power of the media is vast, and in an instant, all the rumors about me crumbled.
Rather than spreading more gossip, people now began speculating about my relationship
with Robert.
They said we were a perfect match, both equal in talent and beauty.
Robert, with his usual playful grin, was scrolling through his phone.
“Look, everyone online is saying we make a great pair, Margaret. The public has good taste. You know, maybe you should stop looking for other men and just marry me.”
Lately, Robert loved making these half–joking remarks, and I was starting to grow tired of hearing them.
“What’s the benefit of being with you? There’s no interest to gain.”
Robert frowned at my response.
“Of course, there’s a benefit. I’d be your servant, doing whatever you want. Isn’t that
enough?”
I couldn’t help but laugh at his antics.
Suddenly, Robert’s face grew serious.

“Margaret, I’m serious. I really like you. Would you consider me?”
I had never seen Robert so serious before. I’d always regarded him as a close friend, but ever since I broke up with Christian, the way Robert looked at me had changed.
Now that I really looked at him, he was indeed quite impressive. He was handsome and
certainly a good catch.
I smiled subtly.
“Well, I’ll think about it.”
