Chapter 26 Liking Lucas’s Hands
Sloane gave a slight nod, but before she could say anything, Lucas tugged her to sit down beside him.
Lucas stretched a hand toward Benjamin. “Viresso Balm.”
Benjamin gave him a look and pulled a small jar from his pocket, placing it into Lucas’s palm.
Lucas turned back to Sloane, sitting beside her, and carefully began applying the ointment to her fingertips.
Samson and Benjamin watched the scene unfold with wide eyes, as if seeing a ghost.
Samson glanced from Lucas to Sloane and thought to himself…
Did Lucas get possessed or something? Should we call a priest?

The ointment was cool and soothing, and Sloane could tell just by the smell that it was made from rare and precious herbs.
But at the moment, her attention was completely captured by Lucas’s hands.
Those hands were works of art. Slender and strong, with pale, well–proportioned fingers and sharply defined joints, exuding a quiet elegance. Even something as mundane as applying medicine became mesmerizing under his hands.
Sloane grumbled inwardly.
Why couldn’t these hands be mine?
She then looked up at Lucas’s face and thought…
When God created him, he clearly didn’t intend for anyone else to compete.
Ahem!” Samson cleared his throat when he saw Sloane staring intently at Lucas. “Ms. Rivers, your performance today was truly outstanding!”
Sloane’s gaze sharpened slightly. She glanced meaningfully at the mess of overturned water cups in front of Samson but said nothing.
Samson, unbothered by being caught, scratched his nose sheepishly and asked, “Ms. Rivers, were you serious about that song pulling out the inner demons of the wicked?”
Benjamin, who was holding a cup, also paused and looked at Sloane.
Sloane could not help but laugh, her eyes sparkling mischievously. “I was bluffing.”
Samson and Benjamin exchanged a look, but the sensations they had felt were undeniably real, as vivid as if they had truly been thrown onto a battlefield.
“It’s just a song, Lucas said lightly.
Sloane looked at him with a hint of admiration and did not hide the truth. “Exactly. It’s not as mysterious as I made it sound. It only briefly disrupts one’s mental focus. As long as your mind is strong enough and you block your ears quickly, you’re fine.”
She stood up. “Even if you don’t, no need to worry. The song is short, and once it ends, everyone
wakes up.”
She had stumbled across that ancient music score in her master’s private library and practiced it out of curiosity. She only knew this short excerpt.
“Ohh, Samson said, suddenly enlightened. He turned to Lucas. “No wonder
Luc
Hearing Samson’s words, Sloane turned again to Lucas, studying him as unaffected, His willpower isn’t human.”
“You weren’t affected just now?” she asked.
“Among the three of us, only Lucas stayed completely conscious,” Benjamin confirmed calmly.
Sloane suddenly leaned down in front of Lucas, cupping his face in her hands so he had no choice but to look into her eyes.

Lucas was momentarily stunned by her abrupt closeness. His deep black eyes locked with a pair of mesmerizing violet pupils.
Like a dream. Enchanting and captivating.
Unconsciously, Lucas leaned in even closer. Their faces were practically touching.
