Chapter 127
Quentin handed me drink after drink, choosing to switch to a sweet white wine. I felt myself feeling more loose with each passing second.
We were just done speaking to the last representative when Quentin finally turned to me.
I opened my mouth to speak but before I could say anything, he pulled me into a warm hug.
A small laugh left my lips. “Quentin?”
“I don’t think I need a reason to hug you.” He huffed quietly.
“Except you actually do.” I added, not quite pulling away from him.
“You’re my partner. I think it’s well within my right to do that.” His hands found their way to my waist.
From the other side of the room, Julia’s eyes remained fixed on me. I didn’t need an interpreter to see the obvious look of jealousy in her eyes.
Despite her partner still being beside her, all our focus was on her. She took a small sip of her wine, her eyes never once wavering from me.
A small smile tugged on my lips as I watched her. I snaked my arms around his shoulders, relishing in the small gasp that left his mouth.
“Quentin.” I whispered in a voice that only Quentin could hear.
He hummed, turning his face back to me. His eyes seemed to glisten on this particular night and I couldn’t help but stare in awe of his beauty.
Without a second thought, I leaned closer to him and placed a small kiss on his cheek. The effect was immediate. Julia looked like she was going nuts. Her drink shook in her hands as she watched me.
My focus remained on Quentin who looked a bit surprised by what I did. I didn’t expect him to slowly lean closer to me.
“Let’s get out of here.” He whispered.
I nodded, letting him lead the way out of the party. I didn’t bother sparing Julia or her date a single glance as we made our way out of the party.

Chapter 127
Quentin opened the car for me. After shutting the door after me, he made his way to his own side of the car and got in.
He revved up the engine and drove out of the building. The drive was quiet, calm save for the slow music rumbling through the speakers.
I closed my eyes, enjoying the calm quiet of the car ride.
“You wanna know something?”
I opened my eyes, turning towards him. “What?”
“I had a crush on you.” Quentin said, his gaze still focused on the road ahead. “I always thought about it you know, confessing to you, letting you know how I really feel about you.”
I gave him the silence which I was sure he was grateful for.
“But I always felt you deserve better. And when I heard that you were going to be mates with Magnus, I decided to let it just happen.” Quentin finished.
“And that’s why you didn’t do anything?” I asked.
He nodded. “The thought of getting in the way of your happiness didn’t sit right with me. I wanted you to be happy, still do.”
He went on with his explanation. “I was ready to go about starting a new life, putting everything else behind me. Then I heard you’d given birth to Emma.”
In the darkness of the car, I couldn’t completely see Quentin’s face. He was probably still under the impression that I was drunk.
“So what now?” I asked, slurring his words a little. “Do you still like me?”
I shifted in my seat, sagging a little into the seat and pretending to fall asleep.
For a moment, there was silence. I wondered if he was simply going to ignore me and move forward.
“Thea?”
I remained silent. A small sigh left his lips as he continued to drive.
“I love you, Thea. I still do. And yes, I know I haven’t exactly been the most forthcoming in that. My attitude doesn’t exactly give any hints about the feelings I have for you. But yes, I am still in love with you
Chapter 127
Thea. Always have been.”
I remained quiet, still pretending to be fast asleep. My mind was racing with various thoughts as I silently processed his words. It was like a continuous echo that seemed to run in my mind.
I love you, Thea.
I still didn’t know what kind of feelings I had for him so I didn’t really know what to say about it.
The sleep ended up washing over me and I somehow dozed off. By the time I opened my eyes, I was back
at home.
“Mom?” Emma was sitting by my side, a curious look in her eyes.
A small breath left my lips. “Emma, which of the three Alphas do you think can be your stepfather?”
Emma had an innocent look in her eyes as she replied. “I think all of them would be perfect for you,
mommy.”
I stared at her, wondering if asking my daughter such a thing had been the right thing to do. I made my way towards the yard.
The first thing that hit me was the sight of Hart typing away at his computer. Jane was by his side, keenly focused on whatever it was they were doing.
They were chatting excitedly with each other, no doubt about some new tech product in the market. I began making my way back into the villa.
It was most likely springtime. Why not just let myself fall in love? On the question of who, it would all depend on the first person to see me today.
