Chapter 17
Alexander watched as Olivia left with David, his heart aching like it had
been hollowed out.
Victoria stood frozen in terror, only remembering to make a call after a long while.
She rushed to Alexander’s side, trembling hands reaching for his wounds.
But the moment she touched his skin, Alexander gasped in pain, startling her into panic.
“Alexander, I’m sorry… I didn’t know it was you…..”
“But why did you block that hot water for that bitch?
Wouldn’t it be better to let her die?”
The more Victoria thought, the angrier she grew. Jealousy burned away her reason, making her lash out recklessly despite Alexander’s injuries.
Until Alexander couldn’t take it anymore. Gritting his teeth, he growled:
“Get out.”
Only then did Victoria notice the pus oozing from Alexander’s wounds.
Then Alexander’s vision went black, and he collapsed.
When he woke again, bandages swathed his face tightly, leaving only his eyes and nostrils exposed
His face was completely ruined.
“Ruined!

He smashed everything breakable in the hospital room like a madman, eyes blazing with resentment.
An assistant cautiously handed him a contract, head bowed low: “Alexander, William wants to cut ties with you. You’re no longer heir to the Sinclair Group.”
“This contract formalizes the severance.
His voice faded to a whisper, terrified Alexander might snap and hurt
him.
Sure enough, Alexander tore the contract apart in fury.
“The Sinclair Group was built by my mother! How dare he strip my inheritance?”
“Who else could possibly take over without me?”
He roared, he raged, he shattered–plunging into the darkest abyss of his life.
The assistant stated flatly: “William’s grooming a new heir–an
illegitimate son raised in secret… your age.”
Like bombs detonating in his ears, Alexander froze.
Every shred of his pride crumbled to dust,

She was helping David with discharge paperwork, her adoring gaze like a poisoned needle stabbing Alexander’s heart.
Suddenly he saw her years ago-
Ponytail bouncing, face glowing with innocence, blinking watery eyes as she chirped: “Alexander, I hope you stay safe forever.”
That was the look of being cherished.
Just like how she smiled at David now.
Alexander surrendered, telling his assistant: “Liquidate all my properties. Wire everything to Olivia.”
Every past transfer had been meant to humiliate her.
Who’d guess this time, he meant to set her free.
But the next day, headlines blared-
Olivia had donated every cent he sent to the Women and Children
Protection Association.
During the interview, Olivia spoke earnestly: “Women’s safety and child protection truly need to be seen by society. Here, I implore every woman and child enduring suffering–please save yourselves from the fire and water!”
These resounding words seemed more like a message to herself.
Olivia’s eyes welled up, infinitely grateful she’d made it through.
Stepping out of the interview room, Olivia immediately spotted David in the crowd.

He smiled as he approached her, draping a coat over her shoulders and taking her hand in his warm, large one: “Let’s go. I’ll take you to eat.”
She could clearly tell insincerity from genuine affection.
Olivia suddenly hugged David, saying earnestly: “David, let’s get
married.”
David paused in surprise: “Why so sudden?”
“Probably because I just really want to have a home with you.”
