Chapter 42
CAESAR
“The bad news is that she was rough handled pretty badly. There are marks on her buttocks, arms and neck and I have reasons to believe that whoever did this intended to strangle her
With every word that comes out of the doctor’s mouth, my anger quadruples with the force of a rocket in motion.
“We can also establish a case of attempted rape. The doctor continues. “According to the patient, the man had threatened to sexually assault her just before you arrived.”
“Fuck!” I growl, slamming my open palm against the doctor’s table. “I’ll kill him. I swear, I’ll tear him apart piece by bloorly piece.
I feel a hand on my shoulder as Solomon silently lends his support. I can tell that he’s furious as well. His entire frame vibrates with the emotion.
“Did he leave any clues hehind? Something we can use to identify him? Any DNA traces?” Solomon asks calmly, because I’m. currently too enraged to form a sensible statement.
“We’re not sure yet.” Says the doctor. “My team of doctors are still working with the forensics team to gather all the available evidence. The only information we can rely on right now is the testimony of the patient. So far, Miss Amaya has been pretty tight–lipped about the identity of her attacker”
How much will it cost?” I mutter darkly.
“What do you mean, Alpha?
I look up, holding the doctor’s gaze. “How much will it cost to accelerate the investigations? I need those lab results in the next twenty four hours.”
When I finally make it to Amaya’s room, I’ve managed to work off some of my anger. However, before I even set foot inside the room, Jayla blocks my path at the door.
“Where do you think you’re going?” She asks with a frown.
I pause, leveling her with a hard stare.
“I need to see Amaya. How is she doing?”
Jayla’s expression falls. “Amaya is.. getting better. She specifically said that she doesn’t want to see you.”
My eyes flash with annoyance but I try to rein in my temper. “She’s my wife.
right to see her.”
Jayla gives me an odd look;
My mate.” I say as calmly as I can. “I have every
“The fact that she’s your wife should encourage you to respect her wishes. Amaya doesn’t want to see you right now and
that’s final”
I take a deep breath and step back. Just then, a high–pitched wail pierces the air. It’s coming from Amaya’s ward.
“Grandma Gina brought the babies?” I ask, wondering if the strange emotion that’s currently unfurling in my chest is worry. “I don’t think Amaya is emotionally ready to attend to them right now. She could’ve waited…”

Chapter 42
“It was Amaya’s idea Jayla–curs in, “She wanted to see her babies baby, rather Neveal is still at the ICU
I nod, sinking my hands into the pockets of my slacks. “Ger out of the way, Jayla. I have too much on my plate at the moment. I need to see for myself that my wife is okay?
Jayla squares her shoulders, her eyes sparking with stubbornness
“And I need to respect my best friend’s wishes. Amaya does not want to see you”
I nod again.
Any kind, considerate husband would back away and give his wife the space that she needs, but kind and considerate are not adjectives that have ever been attached to my name.
I turn to the guards behind me and lift a finger. “Get this woman out of the way.” I order. “Don’t hurt her. I just need her out of my way.”
“Yes, sir.” They reply in unison.
Jayla’s eyes widen as theeverity of the situation finally dawns on her. She takes a step backwards and shoots her arms forward, trying to ward off my six foot tall, bulky bodyguards.
I almost let a laugh escape. Nice try.
“Don’t you dare come close to me. Stay away from me. Don’t come any closer!!”
Despite her screaming, it only takes one guard to lift her tiny frame out of the way.
“What should we do with her, sir?” The guard asks as he pins Jayla’s flailing arms behind her back.
“Take her to Solomon. Keep her with him until I’m done.”
“What?!” Jayla screeches incredulously. “Why Solomon? I’d go anywhere but to him. Caesar, are you listening to me!!!” Unfortunately, I’d tuned out the sounds of her screaming eons ago.
My pulse pounds faster as I make my way into Amaya’s room. Heaven has not stopped crying. In fact, her wails have only gotten louder in the past few minutes.
The sight that greets me when I finally make it inside the room has my heart squeezing painfully in my chest. Amaya lies on the bed with a crying Heaven on her shoulder. She looks totally exhausted, and she’s crying, too.
My heart hurts as I watch her try to comfort her baby while struggling with her own battles. Both the baby and mother are crying. Both of them are upset, and the situation doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
Amaya’s wolf should sense my presence, but she doesn’t notice me until I’m standing at the foot of her bed. Her eyes widen in shock and she struggles to sit up, wincing in the process and upsetting Heaven even further.
“Don’t move.” I order.
Amaya doesn’t look back at me with her usual defiance. Instead, he just lies back down, not even bothering to wipe the tears from her cheeks
Wordlessly, I reach out and gesture for the baby.
“Give her to me.” I say simply.
ya frowns.me; “what?”
Without waiting for her response, I reach forward and take the sobbing Heaven into my arms.
Chapter 42
I think she looks unbelievably cute in her little pink sweater, black baby tights and pink socks
Amaya stares at me in silent awe as I hold Heaven against my chest and gently pat her back. Before long, her loud sribs become sleepy sniffles
Honestly, I always worried if I’ll ever get along with Amaya’s kid and if they’ll ever like me. But right now, as I hold the tiny baby close to my heart, a sense of protectiveness surges in my chest. I want to keep her close and make sure no one ever harms her for the rest of her life.
Anyone who dares to hurt her will face my wrath.
There’s no debate or hesitation in my mind anymore–Amaya babies are my babies now. End of story.
I made sure that the best room in the hospital was reserved for maya. Now, I pace to the windows and keep patting the baby girl in my arms until she lets out a tiny mewl and falls asleep against me.
If any of my men saw me right now, they’d be shocked to their bones. But no one knows that after Michaela’s birth. I spent sleepless nights taking care of her all alone while her mother was in her “recovery phase.”
I shake my head to cleanghe ugly memories and lay Heaven to sleep in her crib. I pause for a second, staring at her in utter admiration. She’s beautiful. Just like her mother.
I turn to find Amaya staring at me like I just descended from outer space.
“What?” I ask, trying to ignore the strange, bubbly feeling that those green doe eyes elicit in my chest all the time.
- th. I never knew you were so good with babies.”
In response, I walk forward until I’m standing directly in front of her, then I place my hands on the bed on both her sides, caging her in.
I lower my head until our lips are just a few inches apart and I can feel her warm breath against my face.
“Why are you surprised, Firefly? I have a daughter, remember?”
Her eyes lock onto mine and for a moment, the entire world falls away.
All that exists is this woman who makes me feel things that should ordinarily be illegal. My eyes fall to her lips and I’m tempted to find out if she tastes as sinful as she looks.
in my hand to touch
Then I lower my gaze and my eyes darken with rage when I notice the finger marks on her neck. I lift my them but Amaya flinches away from me at the last minute.
Yeah, that fucking hurts.
“Who did this to you, Firefly?” 1 snarl. “I swear, I just need a name. Just tell me his name.”
Her eyes well with tears and she looks away. “He’s no one…”
1 grab her wrists, forcing her to look back at me; “don’t lie to me Amaya. I’m your husband now. It is my duty to slay your demons and keep you safe, and I’d happily perform those duties going forward.”
My voice softens to a low growl; “who dared to hurt my wife?”
Amaya holds my gaze for the longest of seconds and I’m almost tempted to believe that she’d reveal his name. However, to my disappointment, she lowers her eyes once again.
“Just forget about it, Caesar. Please..”
Chapter 42
Anger, so raw, so violent, blasts through my bloodstream. I get to my feet and look down at her
“You have no right to ask me to do that, Amaya. I will never forges about it. Never”
I turn around and walk to the door, then pause at the doorway and look back at her;
“I will find the person who did this, and I will bring you his head. May the goddess help me…”
By the time Solomon and I arrive at The Shed thirty minutes later, my wolf is ready to shed blood.
“Welcome, Alpha.” Two of my men greet us at the entrance.
Very few people know about the existence of The Shed. Very few people being Solomon and I.
Not only are we members of the royal family, we’re also responsible for getting delicate information from enemy packs in
times of war.
Solomon and I built The Shed as a secret hideout where we can torture our enemies if need be.
Unlike its name, The Shed is a two–storey, ultra modern building, equipped with a war room, conference centre and the most important part the dungeon, where we torture our suspects.
By the time we make it to the underground dungeon, my men have already begun working on the suspect and his cries of

“Have you found out any valuable information yet?” I ask Gabriel
“No, sir. He wouldn’t even tell us his name. But we found this in the backseat of his car.” He stretches a white material towards us.
On a closer look, my blood runs cold when I realize that it’s a lace material from Amaya’s wedding dress
“He denied being Mrs. Amaya’s attacker.” Gabriel continues; “He also claims that he has no idea who the real attacker is. That’s why we started the torture process.”
I run my eyes over
r our suspect. It’s obvious that he’s a young man. Too young. Twenty years old at most.
He’s chained up, suspended in the air and covered in blood.
“Tell your men to stand back. We’ll take over from here,”
“Yes, sir.” Gabriel leaves to execute my order.
I turn to find Solomon already taking off his shirt. I don’t bother taking mine off. I love seeing the evidence of my enemies‘ suffering against a white canvas.
Solomon and I walk to the trolley amply filled with assorted knives and take our pick. Solomon takes a dagger. I take my signature, semi–blunt small knife.
The young
young man looks at us with eyes filled with absolute terror as we approach.
“You have five seconds to start talking.” Solomon growls.
“Someone tried to rape my wife today.” I add, tracing the tip of my knife against his ankles. “In the process, they assaulted her. They put their hands on what is mine.” My voice is calm. Too calm.
“We have reasons to believe that you know this person. Now, will you speak or will I have to cut off a few of your

toes?”
The young man jerks and the scent of fear that leaks off his por fill my nostrils.
“I know n–nothing!! Heuters, already. Please let the go. I don’t know anything! P–please…”
My blood bubbles with rage. “It’s sad that despite my warning, you still continue to be stupid”
I flick my blade and give Solomon my signal.
“Start the cutting. Make it slow and painful.
“Roger that, boss.”
ut my eyes and allow my dark, animalistic side to take over
a side I have never shown to the world.
I shut
The young man’s pitiful screams fill the room as I slowly and meticulously slice my blade through his big toe while Solomon works on his pinkie finger.
The air is thick with the tent of blood and fifty percent of my shirt is already stained with crimson- just how I like it. Finally, when his toe is only hanging off by a tiny strip of skin, the young man finally caves in.
“Fine, I’ll tell you!! Please, I’ll confess..!!”
