Chapter 8
Peaceful and warm days passed one by one, and the wounds in Kimmy’s and my hearts gradually began to heal. We both slowly forgot about our life back home and that person from our past. Neither Kimmy nor I expected to encounter Alexander again.
It was an ordinary afternoon. Kimmy and Mark had gone to the park to sketch and hadn’t returned for a long time. I went to look for them, but after going downstairs, I saw Alexander looking completely disheveled.
As someone who was usually very concerned about his image, he now had a pale face and unkempt beard, looking like a homeless vagrant. For a moment, I didn’t even recognize him.
However, even after recognizing him, I had no intention of talking to him. I turned around and walked past him down the
stairs.
Behind me, he said with reddened eyes and a hoarse voice, “Isabella, don’t go…”
As he spoke, he hugged me tightly from behind. Warm tears soaked through my clothes and dampened my shoulder.
He was crying. In our five years of marriage, Alexander had only cried once, when his mother was critically ill and passed away.
At that time, I felt incredibly heartbroken and swore in my heart that I would pay any price to never see him that sad again. But what was the point now? His current devotion was worthless to me.
I forcefully pried away his arms that were holding me tightly and said coldly, “Mr. Morrison, we’re already divorced. Show some respect.”
Alexander’s eyes were bloodshot. “No, we’re not. I didn’t sign that divorce agreement! Isabella, I didn’t sign it.
“We’re not getting divorced. We’re not… Isabella, you’ll always be my only wife, and Kimmy’s my only daughter.”
Hearing his words, I curved my lips into a sarcastic smile. “Alexander, who are you putting on this act for now? I’m your only wife, and Kimmy is your only daughter?
“That’s not right, is it? Isn’t your only wife Charlotte, and your only daughter Pearl?”
Tears rolled down Alexander’s face. “Bella, please don’t say that. I know I wronged you and Kimmy.
*Please give me a chance to make it up to you. Come back to me, and I’ll learn to be a good husband and good father.”
I pulled back my sleeve that he was grabbing and said calmly, “Alexander, you don’t need to learn anything. You’re already a very good husband and very good father, just to Charlotte and Pearl.
“You’re the greatest husband and father in this world for them. You just don’t love Kimmy and me. There’s no need to force it.”
“No, that’s not how it is…”
After hearing my words, Alexander’s face turned pale as he tried to defend himself, but after stammering for a long time, he only said, “I just felt sorry for them. I thought… Charlotte and Pearl, a widow with her fatherless daughter, were too pitiful, so

Hearing Alexander say this, anger suddenly surged in my heart. “Yes, you felt sorry for them, so you ran off to play husband and father to them. Kimmy and I have already stepped aside to fulfill your happy family of three, haven’t we? So, what are you doing here now?”
Alexander’s breath caught. He was filled with infinite regret now for how he had neglected his wife and daughter in the past, breaking their hearts completely.
Suddenly, there was a thud as Alexander knelt in front of me. His face was pale as he begged me to give him a chance to make up for his past mistakes. Because of the commotion he was making, a crowd of people wanting to watch the drama

began to gather around us.
I didn’t like this kind of attention.
