Chapter 6
Alexander suddenly felt anxious. He didn’t want to wait that long anymore.
Right now, he wanted the whole world to know that Isabella was his wife and Kimberly was his daughter. That way, she could openly call him Dad from now on, instead of Uncle Alex.
Kimberly would definitely be happy about that. She might even be so happy that she’d forgive him for what happened that
day without needing a forgiveness coupon.
Alexander excitedly called the person in charge of the company website and asked him to announce on the official site that
he was already married with a daughter.
However, the person on the other end said, “Mrs. Morrison is also a company employee after all. You should probably get her
consent first.”
Alexander thought he had a point and took out his phone to dial the number that had somehow become ingrained in his
memory. But the other end was still unreachable.
Alexander’s expression darkened. During the first year of their marriage, he had gotten sick and called Isabella, but she didn’t answer. As a result, he nearly passed out from a high fever at home.
That incident really scared her. With tears in her eyes, she swore she would never miss any of his calls again.
After that, her phone was truly on standby for him 24 hours a day. She never missed another call or message from him. But
now, he had been unable to reach Isabella for almost 12 hours.
Thinking of what Lucas had said about the plane crash, Alexander’s heart suddenly skipped a beat. At this moment, he
couldn’t care less about celebrating his birthday. He moved around Charlotte to leave.
However, Charlotte had been watching his subtle changes in expression. Noticing that he wanted to leave, she bit her lip,
abandoning her usual pretense of being reserved. She reached out and grabbed him, pressing her soft chest tightly against
his strong arm.
With her face slightly flushed, she said in a low voice, “Alexander, can you stay tonight to keep Pearl and me
company?”
Alexander’s departing body stiffened. Then he firmly pushed Charlotte away. He looked at her and said, “I have Isabella. Show
some respect.”
A twisted expression flashed across Charlotte’s face before she said, “Alexander, you misunderstood. It’s Pearl. She really wants you to help her build a block castle.”
Pearl appeared right on cue, gripping Alexander’s shirt tightly. With pitiful eyes, she begged him, “Daddy Alexander, will you build blocks with me? Don’t leave. Without you, Mom and I will be very lonely.”
However, Alexander, who usually had no resistance to Pearl’s pitiful act, pushed her away without hesitation this time.
Without a second thought, he turned around and headed home.
Along the way, he walked faster and faster, eventually breaking into a run. Just now, watching Pearl be cute with him, his mind kept replaying the look in Kimberly’s eyes when she’d turned back to look at him before leaving.
They looked so empty and lifeless. It was as if she no longer cared about him at all.
Pearl always acted cute with him and then made various demands of him. But Kimberly would never do that. She would always watch quietly, hoping that Alexander would look at her more and give her a little more attention.
Just like… Isabella
Why did Charlotte and Pearl feel so entitled to make demands of him? Because they knew he would definitely satisfy them. But what about Kimberly and… Isabella?

They didn’t make demands of him, not because they wanted nothing from him, but because they had been ignored too many times. So, they stopped hoping and no longer held any expectations.
Memories from the past became increasingly clear in his mind. He had actually abandoned them on numerous occasions.
He was such a failure as a husband and a father.
