The landlady’s face fell. “Who knows who she was talking to? Maybe she just got someone to pretend to be the chief. I’ve seen this kind of bluff. There’s nothing to make a fuss about.”
“And a chief, listening to a young lady like that? As if we’re all fools here!”
Kara’s expression turned increasingly troubled. Freya’s identity could no longer be a secret if the chief came. Recalling the rumors she had spread about Freya earlier that day, Kara found herself at a loss for words.
“Whether it’s true or not, we’ll know once he arrives.” Freya’s gaze then shifted to Kara.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before police officers arrived.
Upon seeing the rundown apartment building, one sighed because he thought it was some wealthy family dispute. But it turned out to be a squabble involving a tenant of a dilapidated apartment!
“What’s the matter here? Get on with it.” The officers‘ demeanor wasn’t friendly. And he complained in his heart, ‘We’re here for this?‘ “The situation is, officer, I need to report this woman for engaging in prostitution at my property,” the landlady stated quite seriously. The officers immediately turned their attention to Freya.
