Chapter 10
Before I could say anything, Antonio dropped to his knees and gazed up at me, his eyes glinting with regret. “Grace, will you forgive me? I’ve realized how I truly feel… I can’t live without you.”
“Now you’re regretting it? Don’t you think it’s too late?”
Marcel’s voice came from behind me, laced with disdain toward Antonio.
Yeah, it was too late to regret it now. When I wanted to tell Antonio I was pregnant, he was busy getting intimate with Lola.
Now that I had given up on loving Antonio, he was regretting it. There was no going back.
“Grace…”
Antonio’s face paled, but he still gazed at me pleadingly.
I didn’t want to waste time on him, so I glanced at Marcel and coldly said, “I have a boyfriend now. Don’t come back. I’m sure Lola wouldn’t like it.”
“Is it him? Grace, how could you change your heart so
quickly?” Antonio pointed at Marcel and suddenly burst into
tears.
This was the first time I’d seen Antonio cry, but now, I didn’t feel sorry for him.

I closed the door. As I turned, I accidentally bumped into
Marcel’s chest.
I looked up and met Marcel’s intent gaze. I awkwardly smiled, “Sorry, once again, I used you as a cover.”
Marcel didn’t say it was okay like he did before. Instead, he smirked wickedly.
“It’s too late, Grace.” Marcel suddenly closed the distance, and in the next second, I was pushed onto the bed.
“Marcel, you-” I was shocked, staring at Marcel, who was now exuding raw dominance. He hadn’t been like this before.
“Grace, I could let it slide the first time, but this is the second time. Since you’ve declared our relationship, I will fulfill my duty.” He smiled at me, his eyes burning with desire.
I wanted to speak, but Marcel sealed my lips with his.
The next morning, I woke up with his arm draped over my waist. I was at a loss.
How could I just sleep with him like that?
I got dressed, planning to slip away. When I opened the door, I found Antonio still waiting outside. The dark circles under his eyes suggested that he hadn’t slept all night.
Antonio looked up at me, eyes moist. “Grace, now that we’re even, can you forgive me?”
It took me a while to process his words. He was implying that his affair with Lola and what happened between Marcel and

me canceled each other out.
“Do you think I would get back together with you? Forgive you? In your dreams!” I would never forget how he called my baby a bastard and how he referred to me as his maid.
I like the way things were now. Eight years for 2 million. I made a profit.
Antonio tried to say something else, but Marcel, who had gotten out of bed at some point, shut the door.
Then, Marcel pulled me into his arms, his body pressing against mine, his voice dripping with desire. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“Marcel, I think we were both too impulsive yesterday. We’re adults, so can we just pretend nothing happened?” As soon as I finished, he suddenly bit my earlobe.
“Pretend nothing happened? Looks like I didn’t do well enough.” Marcel’s words made me blush involuntarily.
“No…” I tried to avoid his kiss, but Marcel pulled me back, silencing me completely.
When I woke up again, it was already dark outside, and Antonio had left.
So now, I had a boyfriend.
Time flew by. I sold my apartment and bought a new one.
A year later, I heard the news about Antonio.
At the dinner table, Lilith was gossiping and mentioned Antonio. A year ago, he lost a match because he was

distracted.
His employer’s bet on him was lost, and the money Antonio had left was gone.
Lola dumped him once again after learning the news. Antonio ended up homeless, living under a bridge.
Lilith joked that there wouldn’t be another Grace to take care of him for eight years.
I just smiled faintly, not commenting on that.
The next time I saw Antonio was at my wedding with Marcel.
Antonio was wearing cheap clothes, his hair down to his shoulders, messy and unkempt.
He came to deliver a gift.
Marcel had security escort Antonio out, gift and all. He wouldn’t allow anyone to ruin his wedding.
I didn’t feel anything when I watched it all.
Antonio had brought this on himself. This was exactly what he deserved.
I found my past self impressive for being able to help this guy rise, but some people are just meant to stay in the mire.
After the wedding, Marcel and I moved out of the city to start a new life. All the past faded away with time.
I still had many years to go in my life. I would always keep in mind that loving myself was the most important thing.
