Chapter 3
I didn’t know what excuse Eloise used to deceive my biological parents]
I watched as she bent over and gritted her teeth, saying, “Sorry, Lillana.”
I didn’t look at her, remaining silent.
Suddenly. I thought of the last life when Eloise falsely accused me of stealing her jewelry, I couldn’t find any evidence.
It was just like now, only the roles were reversed]
In the last life, I was the one bending over, humiliated.
My parents intervened, showing me the DNA test report, with guilt and pleading in their eyes.
“It’s all our fault.”
I took the thin sheet of paper, as light as a feather yet as heavy as a thousand pounds
My mom tentatively hugged my shoulders, speaking softly, “You’re my child. I would never mistake you at first sight.“]
My gaze quickly swept across Elaise, whose face was full of unwillingness. I whispered. “It’s okay.“|
“Eighteen years. I finally met my biological parents.”
“I’m luckier than my friends at the orphanager“]
After saying that, I smiled at my parents, then quickly lowered my head, pretending to be shy.
me.”
“Thank you for finding me.”
My parents hugged me in the middle, and I slowly raised my head to look at Eloise, who stood aloof
I gave her a bright smile.
Eloise’s eyes widened, glaring at me as if with poison.]
Tsk, she must be feeling awful
If it feels bad, then take it.
“From now on, you’ll be called sisters and put aside your grievances.” My parents stacked my hand on top of Eloise’s and said.
I looked at the four hands stacked together and smiled. “Sure.”
Can the feelings nurtured from growing up together be erased with just a few words?
Feelings like that need to be dealt with slowly
I returned with them to the home I could never forget.
Eloise was quick to adapt. She welcomed me with a smile in front of my parents and kindly took on the role of a tour guide.
But I knew this was just a way to put me in my place.
I didn’t remember the shape of the antique porcelain in the living room, but I remembered the feeling of the shards cutting across my check
I didn’t remember the length or width of the dining table made of noble materials, but I remembered the silent faces reflecting on it when I was wronged.
I remembered everything.
I should remember everything.
“These clothes are all unworn. If you like them, take them.” Eloise looked me up and down. “Who would believe you’re the real Rogers family’s heiress?
I looked at her closet, as big as the orphanage dorm, and chuckled. “But you’re just a fake. That’s a fact that can’t be hidden.”
Eloise was embarrassed and angry. She pushed me into the corner, grabbed my chin with one hand, and threatened me in a low voice, “Do you think they’ll truly like you just because of this face? I’m the daughter who lived with them for eighteen years!”
I looked at her and laughed softly, shaking my head free from her grasp and leaning against the wall. “Wasn’t it because of this face that you bullied me in the first place?”
Eloise’s eyes were filled with hatred, as if she wanted to tear me apart.
But she could only keep it inside, swallowing all her resentment,
A knock came from outside. It was the maid calling us to dinner.
