Chapter 10
- Vout hers
Utterly enraged, Silvana hung up, her eyes reddening.
Dianna had heard the entire conversation. She hurriedly comforted Silvana, “Calm down, Silvy. He’s not worth getting this upset over. Remember, you’re still pregnant.”
These days had been tough for Silvana, but no matter how upset she was, she had endured it. She had to admit she had loved Kendrick deeply. But now, she could no longer hold back. She bit her lip, her eyes glistening with tears. “Kendrick is such a bastard!”
“He surely is! He’s the biggest bastard in the world! It’s all my fault. I should have stopped you back then,” Dianna cursed even more fiercely.
“Silvy, you’re too good–tempered. Anyone can walk all over you.”
The more she said, the more furious she became. “This is so infuriating. I gotta go confront that bastard. How could he do this? He gave you the apartment already. How could he go back on his word and offer it to his mistress?”
Silvana pulled her back. “Don’t, Anna. It’s not necessary. Just forget it.
“Are you gonna let them get their way? Are you really OK with that?”
“I’m not gonna sell him the apartment.” Silvana bit her lip. She wasn’t OK with any of this. She simply didn’t want to be at Kendrick’s mercy. Why would she help him please his mistress? “I’d rather sell it to someone else with a big discount before letting him have it.”
“That’s the spirit. They don’t deserve to get what they want!” Dianna nodded vigorously.

Silvana didn’t believe Kendrick’s story for a second that Christina liked the environment and that the apartment just happened to be the only property available. What Christina was up to wasn’t difficult to guess- Christina wanted to get under her skin and drive her away for good, so she’d stay out of Kendrick’s world.
Dianna said, “I’ll tell my friends to help us find a buyer. They wouldn’t lay a finger on the apartment even if they were the last people on Earth!”
Deep down, Silvana couldn’t shake the bad feeling that Christina wouldn let anything go, least of all what happened with Julianne.
And it turned out she was right. Christina posted the entire thing online, which soon went viral. Since Silvana was the one suspected of plagiarism, the studio’s reputation was affected. Even Felicia had heard about it and called her immediately to ask.
Silvana told Felicia the whole story, and Felicia said, “We have to do something about this. If this goes to court, it’ll consume a huge amount of time and energy. Besides, even if we win, the damage to the studio’s

reputation might linger. Silvana, perhaps we should just put an end to it. What do you think? You, of all people, know how much we went through to build the studio into what it is today.

“Silvana, you have to face reality. We are no match for Mrs. Maxwell and her husband. Can you apologize to her? We’ll agree any terms she sets, as long as she agrees to drop this. Alright? I’ll set up a meeting with her, and we’ll settle this over a meal.”
She hung up before Silvana could respond.
Soon, she texted Silvana the meeting time and location, repeatedly reminding Silvana not to be late.
Silvana arrived at the restaurant on time, and Felicia was already there. She pulled Silvana into the private room.

Chapter 10
Upon seeing Silvana, Julianne let out a derisive snort and continued chatting with her friend, not even giving Felicia a glance.
Obviously, Julianne wasn’t going to let them off easily.
Felicia shot Silvana a look before saying to Julianne, “Mrs. Maxwell, sorry for keeping you waiting.”
“Sorry, Mrs. Maxwell,” Silvana said after a few seconds of silence.
As if she hadn’t heard Silvana at all, Julianne said to Felicia, “What’s this about, Felicia? It seems to me that someone isn’t supposed to be here.”
Felicia said with an apologetic smile, “Mrs. Maxwell, please don’t be upset. Silvana and I came here to apologize to you. We were immature before, and we’re sorry for any offense we’ve caused.”
Silvana bit her lip and picked up a wine bottle to fill Julianne’s glass. “Mrs. Maxwell, my apologies for what happened. I’m deeply sorry for offending you.”
Julianne clicked her tongue. “Having a backbone isn’t a bad thing, but you should’ve just admitted your mistake. See what happens? Now that it’s escalated, you’re paying the price. If you’d been reasonable from the start, none of this would’ve happened.”
Julianne refused to accept Felicia and Silvana’s apologies. “That’s it? You call that apologizing? Do you honestly believe I’ll forgive you just like this? It’s not even remotely enough.”
Felicia forced a smile. “Mrs. Maxwell, what do you expect us to do?”
Cornered, Silvana knew that only a sincere apology could earn Julianne’s forgiveness. In a humble tone, she could only say, “I’m deeply sorry, Mrs. Maxwell. I sincerely apologize to you for any offense I’ve caused.”
“Silvana, you’re a smart woman. I’m sure you know what I want.” Julianne

Silvana instantly picked up Julianne’s underlying meaning. But she didn’t say anything and just waited for Julianne to continue.
“Christina is my cousin, and we’re very close. It’s really up to her whether this ends. Silvana, if you really mean what you said, you’ll need to
apologize to her in person.”
After a pause, Julianne continued, “In fact, I don’t want to make things hard for you. You’re so young and talented–that’s a rare combination. Not many people are as fortunate as you. You know what? You have plenty of choices. Divorced women nowadays can easily find someone new.
“Christina is stubborn–once she sets her eyes on a man, she won’t change her mind. Instead of competing with her, why don’t you just let go? There are plenty of other fish in the sea.”
