Chapter 10
Alpha Cain’s P. O. V
Eli’s paws dug onto the soft ground as he paded through the branches and thorns of the woods. I follow after him in ny human form, following his lead as he tried to track down the scent he had picked up since we reached the accident scene earlier.
After leaving Mr Blogwood’s and returned back to the house, I still had the unsettling feeling about what he had said to me. I wasn’t moved by his threat to make me leave his city, I was particularly curious as to who would leave slashes like that in that store and put two people down.
So we took off into the night, in search of them.
Eli’s pace increases as the scent seemed to get stronger. Perhaps we were getting on something.
He comes into a quick halt as we neared the edge of a cliff. Then he hopped on top of a boulder and sniffed around it.
I jumped on top of the rock too and watched over the dark city ahead of the cliff.
Something wasn’t right..
Eli shifts back into his human form and I tossed him his pants.
The trail ends here. Eli says as he zipped up his pants. “There’s this strong scent. I don’t recognize it but i one person. It’s a number of people and they came this way.”
“Where did they go?” I ask him, confused myself.
“The scent stopped here, Alpha” Eli said, his eyes gazing down at the rock beneath his feet..
I tried to think. But I couldn’t after a while because some foreign scent suddenly invaded my nostrils.

I may have lost my ability to shift into my wolf for a while now, but my heightened senses were still very much active.
I can still smell an enemy from miles away.
Suddenly, I felt presence from behind us. I turn around quickly, Eli quickly assuming a stance as he sensed the danger too.
I peered into the dark bushes and saw dark figures moving between the trees. I tried to focus properly but it was too dark behind the trees.
I shut my eyes close for a moment and tried to focus. I opened them back with my wolf eyes and looked into the woods. With the aid of my wolf eye, I’m able to see anything in the dark and from yards away.

I saw movements. And they were men. I didn’t know how many but I caught a glimpse of one running fastly behind a

Suddenly, a man stepped out from behind a tree, a fierce look in his eyes. He was tall and looking nothing less than 7 feet tall. His arms are muscular on the right places, his upper body appearing broaders than his lower body.
He’s clad in very tight jeans and a black leather jacket, over a dark grey shirt.
His head is bald, and his jaw covered in beards. There’s tattoos running around his big arms and fat neck. I noticed the mismatched colors of his eyeballs.

Two other men steps put from behind him. They seem to be the complete opposite of this first man. Because they look to be a little less than 6 feet or way below that. Their hairs are well kept, although they all seemed to dress in the same
kind of sense.
But they all had looks on their faces that told me they weren’t where they were supposed to be.
“Alpha Cain, the Prince of the legendary Titan wolves. The first man calls at me, much to my surprise, a slow smile creeping on to his slim lined lips.
Apparently he knew who I was
“You seem to know me,” I said to him but I do not know you
“You must have known me enough to be able to track me down with the help of your dog over there.” He said mockingly his bulky hand pointing towards Eli.
He’s making a dog joke even when he’s a werewolf like us? And most importantly, he knows that I didn’t track them down myself except for the help of Eli. Does that mean he knew my condition?
As much as It bothered me that this strange man knew my most vulnerable side pissed me off, his statement bothered
me even more.
That is my Beta, son,” I said to him as I tried to hold back my annoyance “and you would address him with respect”
He starts to nod at me, his hands coming forward and clamping together. “I didn’t think you would fall for our trick” he said.
“Well, I see you lured us out here then I said as the realization hit me. I knew there was something off about this. A scent doesn’t just vanish like that in the middle of nowhere.
“I was surprised, seeing you on that TV show last week,” he said “and I thought I should have a little chit chat with you.”
“That’s why you killed those people and destroyed the store I asked him, anger slowly kicking in on me. He was acting so nonchalant after what he and his men has just done to innocent people.

If I had any last straw holding me back from punching this fool, it has definitely snapped as soon as he said that
I was infuriated by the minute and jumped off the rock, going over until I was standing face to face with him. He was a bit taller than me, and bigger. But that didn’t phase me one bit. I have beat and killed men of his size in battles.
“What did you say?” I asked him, fire blazing in my eyes as I watched his eyes.
He remains silent for a while, before taking a step back and raising his hands up in surrendering gesture.
“I’m not here to fight you, Alpha. I was wondering to get some insights from you. And forgive my manners. My name is Dewayne. And these are my brothers, Eric and Josh.”
With gritted teeth, I said “what the fuck do you want, Dwayne and brothers?”
“I’m looking for a girl,” he said “she shouldn’t be over 5 to 6 years old. She has the ability to travel across universes. A time traveler.”
My eyes blinked for a quick second. Then I thought quickly about what he had just said. What did he mean a child

“She is called the gatekeeper where I come from he added.
I didn’t know why but for a quick second there, it felt like I heard this same statement somewhere. Or perhaps I’m supposed to know this time traveler.
Taking a light step back. I said “so, where did you come from? Which pack sent you?
Tm sorry Alpha, but that’s a piece of information I cannot share with anyone. Not even you”
My eyes lingered on him for a while, my mind somewhere che as the thought of this child traveler whom I obviously don’t know kept tugging at my mind.
I didn’t know why the mention of her had me shook like that. I’m a hundred percent sure that I didn’t know who this girl was but somehow, I felt like she was someone that I’m supposed to know.
Taking a gentle step back, I said to him “good luck finding that which you seek, Dwayne.”
He nods gently before turning away and disappearing through the trees with his brothers.
I turned to vee Eli’s worried face. Or curious face.
“Did you ever ask Effie how she made it out here?” Eli asks re.
