Chapter 25 Always Treated This Way
Alex’s face darkened as he dialed Clara’s number. “Mom, did you go see Sharon today?”
Clara, having just been scolded by Seb, was already fuming with anger Hearing this, she sneered, “Sharon went to complain to you, didn’t she? I know her!”
Alex’s anger erupted instantly. “Mom, I told you not to interfere in the matters between me and Sharon. Why don’t you listen?
Clara said angrily, “If it weren’t for you, why would I go see her? You just have a mistress outside, and she insists on moving out. You can’t even control your own wife. What will people think of you?”
Alex said, “This is our business. If you secretly go to Sharon again, I won’t care about Dad’s matters anymore.

Alex abruptly ended the call, his brows furrowed in agitation. He thought, I haven’t resolved the affair yet, and now Clara’s causing trouble for Sharon. If I were Sharon, I wouldn’t forgive myself easily.
After standing downstairs for a long time, Alex finally stood at the door of the rented apartment, took a deep breath, and knocked.
“I don’t want to see you today. Go away,” came Sharon’s indifferent voice from inside.
Alex felt incredibly bitter. “Sharon, I didn’t know my mom was going to see you today. I just told her not to interfere in our matters. I just want to see you. I promise I won’t bother you again after I see you, okay?”
After speaking, he patiently waited for a long time but heard no response from inside. Alex’s mood grew heavier.
He understood that Sharon wouldn’t open the door for him tonight..
After waiting outside for a while, Alex turned and left.
Back in the car, he immediately called his secretary. “Find out what my mother said to Sharon today.”
Just as he was about to hang up, he suddenly remembered Seb bringing Sharon back, and his face grew even darker.
He added, “Also, check the relationship between Sharon and Seb.

Suddenly seeing Seb appear in the surveillance footage, Alex’s hand tightened around his phone.
Seeing Seb defending Sharon, Alex felt both anger and a sense of helplessness.

Sharon thought that after what happened last night, Alex would restrain himself a bit. But to her surprise, early the next morning, she opened the door to see him standing there with a bouquet of flowers.
Seeing her, a trace of astonishment flashed in Alex’s eyes. “Sharon,” he greeted.
*Is there something you need?” Sharon interrupted him unceremoniously, her tone somewhat impatient.

Alex said, “Sharon, I know about what happened last night. I promise it won’t happen again. Has my mom always treated you like this? Why didn’t you ever tell me?”
Hearing this, Sharon couldn’t help but laugh. “Did you ever care about me? You’ve been with your mother for so long, so don’t you know what kind of person she is?”
Facing Sharon’s sharp gaze, Alex’s confidence was instantly shattered, and he couldn’t look her in the eye.
Sharon continued, “Alex, in the past three years, you had every opportunity to know how your mother treated me behind your back, but you never looked into it. You never wanted to know, did you?”
Alex opened his mouth to argue, but no words came out.
He thought, What can I even argue? After our marriage, I indeed haven’t cared about her feelings as I used to. Whenever she raised concerns, I simply brushed it off, citing work as an excuse and leaving her to handle her emotions alone. Isn’t my mother’s audacity to treat Sharon this way a result of my long-standing silence and inaction?
Sharon said, “I’ve hinted to you before, but you always pretended not to understand. To you, my suffering a little grievance was nothing. If it weren’t for your affair and my intention to divorce you, you might never have known what your mother did to me in private.”
“Sharon, I’m sorry, Alex’s face was gloomy, and he could only say this.
No matter what he said, it would be powerless and any excuse would be futile.
