Chapter 11
Back in the top–floor CEO office, Alexander’s brow furrowed deeply.
His assistant cautiously asked, “Alexander, should tomorrow’s wedding proceed?”
Though outsiders claimed Al
Though outsiders claimed Alexander and Victoria’s bond was
unbreakable, the assistant sensed Alexander’s feelings for Olivia ran deeper.
Alexander pondered briefly: “Cancel it. Any news about Olivia?”
He refused to believe someone as resourceful as Olivia could die so easily.
Unless she chose death.
Abruptly, Alexander recalled his last encounter with Olivia.
Half–buried in soil, her face ashen, the light gone from her eyes.
Despair?
Alexander’s heart skipped several beats. Racing to the cemetery overnight,
he recklessly rushed past the caretaker’s protests to Sophia’s grave.
He ordered excavation across acres, desperate for Olivia’s trail.
Two hours later, Alexander found no trace of Olivia-
only her bracelet near Sophia’s tombstone.
His fragile composure shattered completely then.
Clutching the bracelet, Alexander finally confronted his feelings:

He couldn’t live without Olivia.
He loved Olivia.
Panic swelled until a shrill phone ring cut through.
Victoria’s cheerful voice chirped: “Alex! Our wedding’s tomorrow! Nervous?”
Alexander’s eyes turned icy, though his words dripped honey: “I’m thrilled.”
Victoria hung up, floating on cloud nine.

The next day, friends gathered as Alexander and Victoria arrived at the
venue.
Following the proposal plan, Alexander waited at the floral arch for
Victoria.
His friends‘ raucous laughter drew his clenched fists.
“Only our Alexander could pull this off!
Marrying his dream girl after all these years!
“Choosing between a socialite and some mistress’s daughter? Easy call!”
“Hey, where’s that doormat Olivia today?
She usually stalks Alexander everywhere!”
Their vulgar jokes about tormenting Olivia made Alexander’s jaw tighten.
When they sneered “doormat” again, Alexander lunged into the crowd.
He dragged one up by the collar, fists raining brutal blows.

Blinded by rage, Alexander saw only Olivia’s years of humiliation. His heart clenched.
“Get out! One more word against Olivia, I’ll exile you from Washington!”
Thud.
Victoria stood frozen in place, her eyes wide with disbelief. “Alexander, were you just….. standing up for Olivia?”
She’d been waiting ecstatically outside the door for the auspicious moment.
After today, she’d believed she’d become the happiest woman in all of Washington.
Yet never could she have imagined her husband would wreck their wedding before everyone’s eyes—
Just to defend his former lover.
Alexander slowly turned, a streak of blood at the corner of his mouth, radiating defeat and defiance.
Seeing Victoria’s tear–filled eyes, he felt nothing but perverse satisfaction, suddenly raising his voice:
“Everyone, today’s wedding is canceled!
When I find the true bride, I’ll invite you all to celebrate!”
Chapter 11
Amid countless stunned gazes, Alexander walked away without looking back.
“Alexander!”
“Alexander!”
No matter how heart–wrenching Victoria’s screams grew behind him, Alexander never broke stride.
Only when he vanished from sight did Victoria collapse to the floor.
She murmured dazedly, “How… how could this happen?”
The cheerful piano music cut off abruptly. The large screen displaying their wedding photos suddenly went black.
The next instant, blood–curdling wails pierced the air.
The screen instantly switched to a ghostly montage-
Footage of Victoria being bullied throughout her study abroad years.
