Chapter 14
Only when she finished dealing with what she had on hand did she notice a WhatsApp message from Olivia, her so–called sister. It must have been Garrett who had given her number to Olivia.
“Hello, Silvana. I’m Olivia. I’m sorry to bother you. I’ve been admitted to Olandale University. Dad must have told you about it already, right? really want us to get along, Silvana. I’m looking forward to seeing you in Olandale.”
Coming from Garrett’s second marriage, Olivia was about five years younger than Silvana. Garrett had a son, too, who was in high school. Silvana had never met Olivia and didn’t want anything to do with her, so she put her phone away without replying.
Any other sane person would have caught the underlying message, which was clear enough. However, Olivia was obviously the only exception. Starting from then, Olivia would text her from time to time and even liked and left comments on her Instagram posts.
She chose to ignore every single one.
A few days later, Olivia called her. And of course, she had no intention of answering. Dianna happened to hear the ringtone and asked her curiously who it was and why she was ignoring the call.
“It’s Olivia, my half–sister,” Silvana said.
Dianna, who knew about her family situation, asked, “What does she want?”
“I don’t know.”

“Do you want me to pick it up for you?”

Silvana had been suffering from severe morning sickness lately and was in poor spirits. Feeling sorry for her, Dianna had specifically invited her out shopping, hoping it would cheer her up. Sensing her reluctance to answer, Dianna took the liberty and answered the call.
The next moment, her expression changed. She turned to Silvana and said, “Olivia’s in trouble.”
“What?” Silvana was stunned.
She took the phone and asked, “What happened?”
A man’s voice came through. He identified himself as a police officer and said, “Is this Olivia Mendoza’s sister? You need to come down to the station. She’s being investigated on suspicion of theft. The investigation is still ongoing.”
After getting the address, Silvana hung up and was about to call Garrett. Olivia was his daughter, and he should handle this. There was nothing Silvana could do, not to mention she wanted nothing to do with them. She had enough on her plate already.
But at that moment, she couldn’t reach Garrett on the phone.
Dianna offered, “Silvy, why don’t you go home and rest? I’ll handle this. You look terrible, and I’m worried. It seems you may
“I’m fine.” Silvana couldn’t bring herself to be that cold anyway. “I’ll go.”
“Then I’m coming with you,” Dianna said.
She nodded. “Alright.”
Upon arriving at the police station, they were briefed on the situation. Olivia had come to Olandale with a friend, saying she wanted to gain

experience by working a summer job. Through an agency, she was hired as the assistant to an internet–famous actress. However, she ended up losing the actress‘ diamond ring. She became the prime suspect and was brought to the police station.
And the internet–famous actress happened to be Christina–the one woman Silvana had been trying so hard to avoid but couldn’t.
Of all the idiots, Olivia managed to shoot herself in the foot by disclosing that her sister was in the jewelry business.
What happened next was no surprise. Christina posed one question, and Olivia confessed everything about Silvana.
When Silvana knew the whole story, she asked Olivia, “So you told them that you’re my sister?”
“Dad said that I could name–drop you if I were in trouble in Olandale,” Olivia muttered, upset and annoyed. “She can’t keep track of her own stuff and blamed it on me, but I didn’t take anything.”
The surveillance footage in the dressing room confirmed that Olivia did take it. The proof was solid. Otherwise, the police wouldn’t have brought her in for questions.
Olivia still denied taking it. Crying her heart out, she pleaded, “Silvana, I swear I didn’t steal it. You must trust me.”
The Mendoza family was well off. They spoiled Olivia rotten, and she never had to worry about money.
Silvana was the same.
Even after the divorce, Garrett still took care of Silvana. When she grew older, she wanted nothing to do with Garrett and thus cut him off herself.
Silvana couldn’t be bothered and said, “Call dad. Let him handle it.”

“No. You absolutely can’t tell Dad! Or it’s over for me.

Olivia freaked out and said, “I found a job at Olandale, but he refused to let me come. Mom is in the hospital. If she knew that…”
Silvana interjected, “You’d better call dad and discuss with him, in case you need a lawyer or something.”
Upon hearing it, Olivia was dumbstruck. By the time she regained composure, Silvana was already gone.
Silvana was surprised to see Christina at the police station.
Christina wore sunglasses with her entourage trailing behind. They paraded through the hallway, making sure everyone noticed them.
When Christina spotted Silvana, a smirk tugged at her lips. “Well, who would have thought you had a sister who was a thief. She stole diamonds, and you stole hearts.”
Dianna bristled. “Bullshit. Silvana is not involved in Olivia’s misconduct. She never stole anyone’s heart! Stop making stuff up!”
“I’m merely stating the facts. Isn’t that the truth?” Christina lifted her chin and said condescendingly. “Silvana, this isn’t over. As long as you’re in Olandale, I won’t let you off.”
Dianna sneered, “Do you seriously think Olandale is your playground? Don’t even make me laugh!”
Silvana pulled Dianna and said, “Are you really that insecure? Kendrick and I are divorced. Why do you still think I would come between you two?”
