Chapter 9
“I know. It’s fine. We’ll both have what we want, right?” Silvana’s voice was barely a whisper, betraying no emotion.
Lost in thought, she stroked her lower abdomen.
Dianna said, “Then raise the price. She’ll ask Kendrick for the money anyway.”
It was true–Kendrick had always been generous with women, especially when it came to money.
After taking a tour, Christina said to Silvana, “I’ll take it. I’ll have the agent contact you later.”
To her surprise, Silvana said, “Sorry. It’s not for sale anymore.”
“What do you mean? Are you messing with me?” Christina fumed.
“Think what you want,” Silvana said indifferently. “Believe it or not, I wanted to sell it a second ago, but now I’ve changed my mind.”
“You…” Christina was seething with rage. Thinking of how Silvana had said Kendrick was impotent, she was even more furious. “Have you been playing me this whole time, Silvana?”
“You slandered me. Did you think I wouldn’t clap back?” Silvana shot back, no pushover. She wasn’t about to take this, not after Christina’s constant provocation. They already had beef, and if she backed down now, Christina would only get worse.
“Very well. This isn’t over, Silvana!”

Chapter 9
Utterly pissed off, Christina slammed the door and stormed away.
Silvana immediately breathed a sigh of relief, her face still pale. Dianna took her arm and said with concern, “You got me there for a second. I really thought you were going to sell the apartment to her.”
She said weakly, “That’s what I thought, too, but I changed my mind.”
“I bet she’s run straight to Kendrick to tell him everything. Hey, Silvy, do you think she actually confronted him about his ‘little problem“?” Dianna couldn’t help but chuckle.

Silvana shook her head. She honestly didn’t know.
“Christina’s such a bitch,” Dianna spat indignantly, placing her hands on her hips. “Actually, I heard something… But I’m not sure whether I should tell you.”
“What is it?” Silvana asked.
“It’s about that bitch. Apparently, her brother was Kendrick’s childhood friend and died in an accident last year. The friend who told me this moves in their circle.”
Silvana knew nothing about Kendrick’s social circle, but Dianna had some connections there. Back when Dianna first heard about Silvana’s marriage to Kendrick, she was so shocked she almost had a heart attack. At that time, she was just beginning to interact with their circle and learned that Kendrick was the most enigmatic among them. She’d heard his name brought up occasionally–always in hushed, reverent tones.
At the time, Silvana hadn’t had a wedding banquet or any kind of celebration, which made Dianna suspect something was off. Although more and more people were opting for simple, private, and quick marriages these days, the fact that Kendrick was Silvana’s husband–and that they ended up divorcing–was staggering.

Chapter 9
Speaking of the devil–Kendrick called Silvana.
It seemed talking about someone behind their back really did invite instant karma.

Silvana shot a pointed look at Dianna before answering. In the next second, Kendrick’s deep voice came through the speaker. “You’re selling the apartment in Serenity Estates, right?”
“Yes,” Silvana said.
“Name your price. I’ll buy it.”
She was silent for a moment.
“Any price,” he added.
“May I ask,” she said, “are you buying it for yourself or for someone
else?”
“Christina likes the environment there,” he replied matter–of–factly. “And it’s the only suitable property available.”
“I see,” she said. So, Christina had gone to Kendrick, which explained this call. Would he really give Christina anything she wanted?
She had been Kendrick’s wife for years, yet she realized she knew nothing
about him at all.
“Silvy,” Kendrick said suddenly.
Once upon a time, he had called her that affectionately during their most intimate moments. It felt like ages since she’d last heard him say it that
way.
She was thrown off for a second before quickly collecting herself. “I’ll sell the apartment to anyone but you or Christina.”

Chapter 9
This time, it was Kendrick who fell silent.

She continued, “When we divorced, we agreed the apartment would be mine and I got to deal with it as I saw fit. That means I choose the buyer. I will sell it to anyone but her.”
“What’s your reason?”
Hearing his question, she almost laughed incredulously. The reason? Was
he serious? Wasn’t it obvious? He had married her while in love with Christina, and they divorced over the same woman. From the very
beginning, she had been kept in the dark. If it weren’t for that day he got drunk and called her by Christina’s name, she would still be deceived like a fool.
Sensing her silence, Kendrick continued, “Christina’s young and immature. Silvy, you don’t need to hold a grudge against her.”
“Who do you think you are?” she couldn’t help but retort, her fury erupting. “What right do you have to say that to me, Kendrick? And who the hell is she to me? Why should I ever humor her?” She hadn’t felt this furious even during their divorce. She was the victim here. How dare he say such a thing?
Kendrick was obviously displeased, his voice deepening. “Don’t be unreasonable.”
“Mark my words, Kendrick. I am not selling her the apartment just because she wants it. Now that you’re involved, there’s even less chance I’ll sell it to her. Sue me if you want to take the apartment back. Then you can give it to whoever you please. But for now? Forget it.”
