Freya had never intended to confront the principal directly, but unfortunately, the principal had failed miserably at his duties, choosing instead to shield Eloise at every turn.
So, if things turned ugly, she couldn’t be blamed for not pulling her punches.
“Freya! Kieran!” Out of the blue, Luna called out.
Freya turned just in time to see Kieran making his way towards her.
Freya’s gaze darkened, almost instinctively grabbing Luna’s hand, ready to make a run for it.
But Kieran’s voice, cold and stern, stopped her in her tracks, “Freya, you stop right there!”
Freya didn’t show any signs of stopping; if anything, Luna seemed more frightened than ever.
Freya had never been this bold before, daring to walk away in such a situation.
Kieran, seemingly used to this, quickly caught up and grabbed Freya’s wrist, almost dragging her towards the school building. “Freya!” Luna tried to follow, but Jarrett blocked her way, saying, “Ms. Jennings, Mr. Sutton needs to have a word with Ms. Dawson alone. Please, do not interfere.”
“You!”
Luna clenched her teeth, feeling helpless, and could only watch as Freya was led away by Kieran.
She couldn’t possibly get Freya away from Kieran alone.
That’s right! Ronan!
Luna dashed towards the auditorium, where Ronan was likely attending a school forum today.
Meanwhile,
Freya shook off Kieran’s grip, frowning, “Kieran! Let go!”
“So, you’re that eager to cut ties with me?”
“It’s not about wanting to cut ties, Kieran. We’ve already drawn the line.”
Freya didn’t hide the disdain in her eyes, “Kieran, when did you become so clingy? Don’t tell me you’ve actually fallen for me? That’s a laugh. I’m the scheming witch who’d do anything to become Mrs. Sutton. I’m worlds apart from your ideal woman. Or is it because I stopped being your loyal follower, and suddenly you start missing me? The great Mr. Sutton, reduced to this? Please.”
Hearing Freya’s sharp words, Kieran’s grip on her arm tightened, his knuckles turning white, “Say that again?”
“Even if you ask me to repeat it a hundred times, my answer won’t change.”
Freya scoffed, “Mr. Sutton, the high and mighty often forget, don’t they? You once said you’d never fall for someone like me. After everything I did to win you over, you didn’t even bat an eye. Have you ever thought your own sincerity could be trampled just like you’ve trampled on others?”
Kieran unconsciously let go of her arm, taken aback by her words.
His pride wouldn’t let him beg a woman, so he ended up laughing bitterly. “Fine, Freya. This is your choice.”
He had come to clear the air about his intentions, wanting to confess his feelings for her.
But after hearing Freya’s words, he couldn’t bring himself to speak his heart.
“Mr. Sutton, I hope you’ll stop bothering me from now on. Dealing with you is exhausting, honestly. I now understand the disgust and impatience you felt towards me because I’m feeling the same. What I want most is for you to disappear from my life, never to cross paths again.”
Kieran stared at Freya, unable to utter a word, his forehead veins bulging, finally managing through gritted teeth, “Freya, just don’t regret this!”
