By moming, there were rumors all over the school’s social media saying the Dawson family’s hit rock bottom. They’re saying Johanna’s trying to cash in on her daughter again!”
“Cash in… again?”
Freya zeroed in on the key phrase.
Nodding vigorously, Luna continued, “Yeah, it’s about Kara. You’re becoming the talk of the school. They’re saying Mr. Sutton dumped
because he wasn’t interested anymore, and then Johanna tried to push her niece into Kieran’s arms. Last night, she was supposedly taking Kara to the Suttons to demand 200 million!”
Hearing the figure, Freya’s eyebrow twitched subtly.
Initially, Johanna had borrowed a hundred million. With interest piling up, it had just edged over another hundred million. The fact that she was now demanding 200 million outright hinted that there was more going on behind the scenes.
It was all because the year–end was approaching.
After Galen had been fired by her, the year–end audit would uncover the embezzlement of several million that Johanna and Jarrett were involved in.
No wonder Johanna was so desperate for money.
