Chapter 24
They sat in the back row with Rachelle in the passenger seat of the fancy convertible.
In a pretentious voice, she asked Luke, “Why didn’t you tell me in advance that you wanted me to be your date tonight? I wasn’t prepared at all. Luckily, there are a few hours for me to prepare. There is plenty of time to pick out a dress. Besides, I have a great figure for choosing a dress.”
Her pretentious voice sent a chill down both Jenna’s and Kim’s spines.
Luke frowned and glanced faintly in the rearview mirror at the back seat of the sports car.
Camille looked out at the street outside the car, the wind blowing her hair and blocking the expression on her face.
“You look good in anything.” The words that came out of the man’s thin lips were clearly complimentary, but they were cold, hard, and void of emotion.
It seemed to be deliberately said to someone else.
“So you think so too, Luke?” Rachelle beamed with a smile on her face.
With one hand on her cheek, Camille rested her elbow on the sports car’s door and looked out at the scenery
They soon arrived at the dress store. Kim pulled Camille in as she walked up the steps. “Camille, do you know what brand this is?”
Rachelle raised an eyebrow, turned back to Camille, and said sarcastically, “Don’t tell me you don’t know what brand this is.
Jenna was particularly disgusted with this woman this whole trip and wanted to scold the woman severely.
Camille pulled her back before saying, “Is it any surprise that I don’t know how big of a brand this is or how famous it is because I’m poor? If I were a person who traveled wearing major brands, then I wouldn’t be working at the restaurant in Leicester Hotel.”
“Yeah, just like Ms. George, you don’t know how many flavors of instant noodles there are,” Jenna said indignantly.
Rachelle looked a little embarrassed. She wanted to make a fool of her, but she didn’t think she would talk about her poverty so openly, not caring about the eyes of her colleagues or feeling ashamed.
Luke seemed to be the honored guest here. The clerks treated him with respect.
Three unrelated people sat in the lounge area, drinking the water served by the attendant.
Luke’s cold face was expressionless. The clerk’s mouth kept talking about the origin of the dress. The price was a symbol of prestige for the rich. When the attendant said the price, Camille choked on a mouthful of water but didn’t dare cough hard enough. She hastily turned around and stifled a cough by patting her chest.
“Are you okay?” Jenna asked her.
Camille shook her head and turned around. “Yeah.”
–Her face was suffocating red, and her eyes were half–lifted at Luke’s magnificent figure.
Just then, Luke looked at her again from the mirror. Their eyes collided. Camille looked away and lowered her head. As she looked at the water in the cup, her face was burning hot.
The female attendant smiled sweetly.

Chapter 24
Luke withdrew his eyes from Camille and cracked a smile so small that it was nearly invisible at the corners of his lips. “That’s it.”
Not long after…
“Luke!” Rachelle came out in her new dress and stood in front of him.
He was sitting on the sofa. He raised his head to glance at Rachelle. He then lowered his head to look at the newspaper. “Good.”
Rachelle pursed her lips. There was no look of surprise or joy in his eyes. She thought maybe the dress she picked didn’t look good to him.
Jenna and Kim looked up. They saw her round breasts were almost completely visible to the outsiders. They wondered if she was not worried about being seen by others like this.
Camille also looked up and glanced. She blushed and lowered her head again. As far as she could remember, she only saw people dressed like that on TV.
Luke looked at Camille in the mirror. Camille looked down and mumbled something to herself. Luke curled his lips softly. He probably didn’t even know it.
Rachelle chose a dress at random.
Luke had already left in stride.
The store employee placed the wrapped items in the car.
Next, they were going to a nearby store to pick out a handbag.
“You guys go ahead. I’m not going,” Camille said as she stood on the curb.
Rachelle glared at her. “I don’t think you need to go either. Save your energy for the party tonight. It’s not easy being at waitress.”
Luke frowned at Camille, who was walking to the car with her head down.
Camille was sitting in the car silently.
A figure came by. It was Luke.
She wondered why he came along.
Luke got into the driver’s seat and looked at her in the rearview mirror. “What about your feet? Or you can take the night off? The part will be tiring.”
Camille had little expression on her face. She said in an indifferent tone, “No, thanks.”
The restaurant department had given orders that no one was allowed to take time off. If they did, it would have to be specifically approved by the management staff. So the rumors would probably be all over the place and would only annoy Rachelle again.
“I’m concerned about you.” Luke’s lazy eyes were fixed on the flustered small face in the rear–view mirror.
Camille was incredulous.
Luke stopped talking too.
Inside the hotel, Sarah’s anxiously painted little face with delicate makeup was beaded with a fine sweat.

Chapter 24
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable. Sorry…”
Sarah called Trevor’s cell phone again and again, but she didn’t know where he had gone or why he hadn’t returned.
“Could it be that he got news about the woman who has been in jail?” she thought. She wondered if Trevor had found anything in his investigation. Unease was written on her nervous face.
Natalie and Trevor met at a cafe. Natalie sat down uneasily. “What’s the matter with me?”
“Camille’s father’s grave, the exact location.” Trevor was cold.
The Trevor Natalie remembered was the big brother who always warned her not to bully her sister.

She took the pen and paper that Trevor’s assistant pushed over, gave Trevor an uneasy look, and wrote down the address of the cemetery.
If she remembered correctly, he hadn’t seen her in years. She couldn’t believe he still remembered the death anniversary of her father.
“It’s done. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go now.” Natalie picked up her bag and got up.
“If you hear from your sister, let me know,” Trevor said indifferently.
Natalie squeezed the bag in her hand and calmed herself. She didn’t dare turn back. With pursed lips, she replied, “I will.”
Natalie drove straight back home.
Her brow was furrowed all the way home.
Gemma saw her daughter return and asked, “What did you say?”
“Mom, I want a glass of water.” Natalie threw her bag on the couch. She frowned and held her forehead, which ached.
Gemma poured her a glass of ice water and sat across from her. “What has Trevor been asking you?”
Natalie frowned at the ceiling. “Mom, where do you think my sister is now? What are we going to do if Trevor finds her?”
Gemma raised one eyebrow slightly and kept her face indifferent without saying anything.
