Chapter 16
Heather Jones was definitely somewhat surprised.
She understood what a young man like the CEO was thinking about.
One could see Camille Shelton sitting on a stone stool through the office’s window. She rested her head on a stone table in a flowery, secluded place.
“Mr. Walter, you might not fully understand Camille’s current circumstance. Perhaps you would like to take a look over here…” She wasn’t sure if she should have said that.
Luke Walter was stunned. “What happened to her?”
“Mr. Walter, the meeting is in five minutes, shouted Luke’s secretary anxiously when she saw him enter the elevator in a suit.
“Push it back!”
Three uncompromising words left his thin lips.
There had been two floors to the restaurant ever since it was built. The scenery that surrounded the restaurant was pretty decent too. There were rock gardens of various shapes and sizes a bridge, a river, flowers, and even trees that bore small green fruits.
Outdoor dining areas had been set up on the left and right of the restaurant. The area behind the restaurant was filled with vegetation, with the exception of a resting spot.
Luke entered the resting spot and saw a thin silhouette resting her face on the stone table. She looked like she was sleeping Camille looked like a sparrow that was lost and injured
He softened his footsteps and stood behind her..
The left side of Camille’s face was swollen. A stray strand of hair had escaped from her hair clip. The wind blew it onto her face. She frowned as she fidgeted uncomfortably.
Luke bent down and brushed the hair off her face.
Luke studied her face at a close distance, her playful ponytail and her quivering, supple lips. He felt butterflies in his stomach.
He noticed that her eyebrows were wet. His brows furrowed. There were what looked like nail scratches on her face too.
He left and returned with a band–aid.
With extreme gentleness, he put it on clumsily for her.
She rustled but did not wake up fully. It might be due to her being emotionally and physically exhausted.
Luke smiled so brightly it was blinding. He was extraordinarily handsome, but few had seen him smile like this.
The lush vegetation has attracted several small flying insects.
Luke tucked one of his hands into his trousers. The hands of his wristwatch, exposed, continued to move. He stood behind her. When the insects flew near them, he waved them away subconsciously.
Camille woke up groggily.

She reached for her face unwittingly. The band–aid fell on the floor.

She bent down and picked up. She looked around but didn’t find anyone.
She glanced at her watch. Goodness! It’s that time already,
She ran to the restaurant’s entrance before walking in.
Kim was collecting the plates from the tables. She turned towards the kitchen upon seeing Camille.
Jenna ran towards Camille as soon as she saw her. “It looked likese swell has subsided a bit. That’s a relief. I was so worried. Take care not to let it be infected. Ms. Jones told me you can have a few days off to recover,”
Camille nodded in a daze: She probably shouldn’t be working w the way her face is now. It would drag the image of Leicester Hotel down.”
“Thank you, Jenna.” She couldn’t think of anyone else besides Jena who would be kind enough to put on the band–aid for.
her
Jenna poked her forehead. “You don’t need to thank me. We’re friends, right?”
Camille grinned, which pulled the wound open. She yelped and covered her mouth, making both of them roll with laughter. Rachelle George came upstairs and asked the secretary, “What does the CEO want me to do?”
The secretary shook her head. “Miss George, the CEO is being kind of strange today.”
“What happened?” Rachelle frowned.
“When it was time for the meeting, the CEO went outside instead. He asked for a band–aid upon returning, then left again. He just had the meeting earlier and called for you right after it was over,” whispered the secretary.
“Luke, you called for me!” Rachelle stood before his desk.
Luke didn’t raise his head. His expression was very cold. “I brought you along for this business trip because you’re a staff of Leicester Hotel. You manage to parachute to this position because of my mother. I think you are aware of that.”
Rachelle’s tears welled up in her eyes. She couldn’t take this.
“I’m sorry, Luke, I suddenly feel unwell.” She bolted out of the office. She didn’t want to listen to what he said anymore. Ultimately, it’s all the fault of that woman. Luke wasn’t like this before she appeared.
Camille changed her clothes and walked out of Leicester Hotel. She walked along the road towards a faraway bus stop.
Despite her calm expression, her mind was in chaos. Her pace slowed every now and again as she caressed the pink flowers along the road that stood a foot tall.
At a short distance behind her, a black Porche was driving toward her slowly.
Camille stuffed her earbuds into her ears. The bus on this route didn’t have many stops. She could rest her head against the window as she relaxed and enjoyed her music.
When the evening rush hour came, cars started driving out from Leicester Hotel one after another. Some belonged to the guests, while others belonged to Leicester Hotel’s staff.
“Trevor, where are you?” Sarah Bronson held the steering wheel with one hand while the other held the cell phone to her ear. The security guard at the car park told her that Trevor’s car had only left a few minutes ago. However, he didn’t even tell her where he was going.
Trevor White looked at the pink flowers along the side of the road. Soothing music was playing in his car. He replied, “I’m with a friend. I won’t be able to have dinner with you today. Make sure you eat something by yourself

“…Really?” Sarah’s eyes grew slightly hazy.
She knew Trevor too well. Despite that, she could never figure out what he was thinking. She gripped her steering wheel tight.. “Don’t drink too much.”
Trevor hung up.
There was a red light up ahead. He pulled out a cigarette and lit. After rolling down the window, he put his hand outside.
The exhaust from a red bus next to him made him uncomfortable. When the red light was about to change, Trevor threw the cigarette butt away.
He looked up at the window of the bus unwittingly.
A familiar side profile of a girl flashed past in a blur.
He saw it.
