Facing Eloise’s inquiry, Kara was utterly speechless. Could she say she was to tag along with Kieran for a social gathering? Compared to Eloise’s background, how could she measure up?
“I, I was here to…” Kara couldn’t bring herself to speak.
In front of the real deal, how could she dare admit she was there to accompany Kieran to a social event?
“Grandmother asked her to come along with me,” Kieran said, his tone casual.
His words made Kara’s face turn beet red.
Hearing this, Eloise raised an eyebrow and said, “Oh? Is that so?”

Ms. Orson, no offense, but this event will be crowded with international tycoons. Your presence could cause some misunderstandings and might hinder smooth communication,” Eloise paused deliberately before continuing, “How proficient are you in foreign languages? Can you engage in daily conversation? Technical jargon is also quite important here. I assume you’re familiar with that, right?”
Kara was at a loss for words, overwhelmed by Eloise’s barrage. She had thought being by Kieran’s side merely required her to have a good drinking capacity but hadn’t thought language skills were also a necessity.
Kara had good grades, but without experience abroad, she could not chat smoothly with foreigners.
“It seems Ms. Orson isn’t quite familiar with this stuff.”
Eloise continued, “You know Kieran’s status. If outsiders see him with a companion like you, it might tarnish his reputation and the Sutton Group’s. I suggest you brush up on your language skills before coming back.”
With that, Eloise walked to Kieran, slipping her arm through his, and said, “Kieran, shall we?”
“Sure.” Kieran stood up without giving Kara another glance.
“Mr. Sutton…”
“Go back home. Don’t let me see you stepping into the office again.” Kieran’s voice was icy.
Standing there, Kara trembled at his words. It was her first time meeting Eloise. She had tried to find information about her online, but Kieran had protected Eloise so well that she couldn’t find any photos. Everyone in their circle knew Eloise was Kieran’s exception.
Kara thought dressing up like Freya would help her get closer to Kieran. However, after seeing Eloise, she realized the huge gap between them.
Meanwhile, Kieran and Eloise had entered the elevator. Kieran was stoic as Eloise finally said, “Kieran, did Audrey… take a liking to that girl?”
“Yes.”
“Could you possibly…”
“She’s not fit to be the Sutton family’s future lady.”
Eloise smiled at his words, but Kieran added coldly, “I didn’t ask you to come today. How did you know about tonight’s event?”
Confronted with Kieran’s question, Eloise’s eyes welled up with tears. “You’ve been ignoring me these days. I just wanted to see you…”
“I’ve said I would ensure your safety in Echo City, but Ellie, you must also understand boundaries.”
At his words, Eloise’s expression changed subtly.
