Dusk had settled over the Majestic Manor Hotel, transforming the surrounding area into a bustling hive of activity. The neon lights along the streets cast an almost magical, glittering haze over everything, like something straight out of a Hollywood movie.
When Freya and Luna arrived, they saw the entrance lined with luxury cars, their drivers bustling about, preparing to move into the designated parking areas. Having stepped out of their ride, a hotel valet promptly took over parking their car, allowing them to head inside without further ado.
Luna scoffed at the scene unfolding before her. “Looks like everyone showed up. They’re really rolling out the red carpet for Leland,” she muttered under her breath.
“Let’s go in,” Freya suggested, leading the way.
Upon entering, the manager immediately noticed them, hurried over, and greeted them. “Ms. Dawson, let me escort you in,” he offered Apelitely.
Freya nodded, and as they proceeded into the banquet hall, the sheer number of guests was impressive. The room was filled with celebrities, business moguls, and high–ranking corporate executives, not to mention a fair share of the local elite and socialites. It was a gathering that could rival any high–profile event in their previous life.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the buzz of conversation. “Look, it’s Mr. Sutton!”
All eyes turned to find Kieran making his entrance, with Eloise by his side, as usual. It wasn’t a surprise to Freya. Kieran was well–known for never attending such events without Eloise on his arm. It was an unwritten rule acknowledged by everyone in their circles.
“Looks like we’re not the only ones who drew a crowd tonight,” Eloise commented, her voice soft and warm as she greeted those around them with Kieran.
However, their appearance quickly became the center of attention for a different reason. Everyone knew about Kieran and Freya’s engagement, especially after their public confirmation not long ago. Yet Kieran was with another woman at a Dawson family event, Freya’s brother’s birthday.
Whispers started to circulate among the guests, with many speculating about the nature of Kieran and Freya’s relationship.
“I told you there’s no way Kieran and Freya are serious. It’s all just for show!”
“Exactly. And bringing Eloise here today of all days? It’s practically a slap in the face to Freya.”
“The Dawsons must be mortified.”
These murmurs didn’t escape Freya and Luna’s ears. Indignant, Luna exclaimed, “What’s Kieran playing at, showing up with Eloise? It’s like he’s deliberately trying to embarrass you.”
Indeed, Kieran’s choice seemed like a calculated move to undermine Freya, a gesture akin to rubbing salt in a wound, especially before such a distinguished crowd.
