Chapter 45
AMAYA
I expected us to fly to the Maldives in a commercial plane so confused when Caesar’s driver does not follow the normal route to the airport.
“Where are we going?” I ask with a frown.
Caesar looks up from his iPad, glancing at mes
“My private airfield.” He says simply, then he returns his attention to the iPad like he hasn’t just dropped a bomb on me.
Now I understand what Jayla meant when she said that Caesar Manchester could buy the entire BlueRivers Park with the profit of one of his companies if he wanted to. There are rich men, then there’s Caesar.
I try to focus on a magazine in order to distract myself from the ran seated beside me. It doesn’t work. Caesar’s aura is too powerful to go unnoticed. And the fact that he hasn’t said anything about yesterday’s traumatic happenings makes me even more uncomfortable.
Finally, barely thirty minutes later, we arrive at a gate that opens electronically, revealing a vast airfield.
Three minutes later, the car comes to a stop at some kind of underground parking lot. I move to open my door but Caesar places a hand on my arm and mutters;
Stay”
My throat suddenly feels tight and my shivers run through my skin where he touches me. Confused, I watch as he steps out of the car and closes the door behind him.
Seconds later, my door swings open to reveal Caesar standing there with his hands outstretched. I stare at him for a moment, my wolf purring in surprise. What the hell is he doing
Caesar lifts one of his perfectly arched brows and I snap out of my daze, slowly placing my hand in his. To further add to my shock, he does not let go of my hand until we arrive at the huge plane and are led inside.
Finally, I clear my throat and ask;
“Un are we traveling alone? Where are the others?”
Caesar blinks at me. “What others? This is my private plane. We’re traveling solo.
Oh–kay, then.
I settle into the plush, comfy seats as the plane takes off, still surprised when Caesar chooses to sit beside me. I mean, it’s a big ass plane. He could have sat anywhere else but he consciously decided to sit beside me.
A thousand and one questions are currently running through my mind, but I have no idea how to put them into words. Before long, I’m already dozing off. I’m jerked awake after what feels like ten minutes and look up to find piercing black eyes staring down at me.
“You feel asleep He whispers softly.
I blink rapidly and lean away, hating the way my heartbeat accelerates whenever this man is close.
“Um, sorry. Did I disturb you?”
Caesar must notice my conscious effort to stay as far away from him as possible, because his lips and jaw tightens

warmth in his eyes is replaced by an ley expression.
Suddenly, he gets to his feet.
“Come with me.”
Without waiting to see if I’d obey, he turns around and walks off towards the back of the plane. Ordinarily, I’d ignore him because of his rude tone, but curiosity gets the best of me and d up following behind him instead.
Caesar pauses in front of a door I didn’t notice carlier and push it open, saying over his shoulder;
“It’s almost a twenty hour flight. You need rest. You can sleep here instead of dozing off on the seats,
I’m still confused until I duck underneath his arm and look into the room. then my mouth falls open in awe.
This is luxury at its finest. The room is almost a standard suite, complete with thick draperies, a vanity, a wardrobe and a king sized bed that looks incredibly soft.
My wolf is excited at the thought of running into the room and jumping on that angelic bed, but my human side is more reserved.

I step back, wiping off the excitement on my face and look up to meet Caesar’s narrowed eyes;
“Uh- you really don’t have to do this. I don’t want to inconvenience you in any way. You’ve already done enough.”
Caesar frowns; “why? What’s wrong? Don’t you like the room?”
I hold his gaze. “I love it. It’s incredible. But I don’t want to impose..”
If Jayla were here, she’d probably hit me on the head with a shovel.
To my utmost shock, Caesar swoops forward and lifts me into his arms, cradling me against his chest.
I let out a short gasp
“Caesar! What are you doing?”
As usual, he doesn’t answer. His face is set in a harsh expression as he walks to the bed and gently places me against the blinding white sheets, then he proceeds to carefully take off my andals.
When he’s done, he turns to me and grunts; “get off.”
I frown. “But you carried me here.”
His brows furrow in annoyance. “Now is not a good time to be stubborn, Firefly.”
I inhale sharply and get off the bed, still confused as hell.
to me.
I watch as Caesar peels away the layers of duvets and bed sheets, then he turns te
“Get in.”

“I don’t want you breaking your neck when you fall asleep on the seats Amaya. Just do as I say this one time.”
It suddenly hits me that this is Caesar’s way of caring for me. This is his way of saying sorry for not helping me in time when Alistair attacked me yesterday.

My chest swells painfully at the realization that he feels guilty.

Suddenly feeling exhausted, I heave a sigh and climb into the be just as he asks, my pulse pounding crazily as he covers me up to my chin and tucks the sheets around me with great concentration.
Finally, he leans back and our eyes clash and hold. The world fades away and at that moment, all that exists is this man that resurrects feelings in my heart that I’d rather keep hidden forever.
The warmth in Caesar’s eyes fades away, swiftly replaced by a harsh gleam;
“Get enough rest.” He growls. “When you wake up, you owe me an explanation on why you’d choose to hide the fact that your bastard ex–husband was responsible for yesterday’s attack.
