Chapter 37
CAESAR
I’m still furious. I’m enraged and I don’t know how, or where to channel my rage.
I’m enraged because I couldn’t bring myself to yell at Amaya to my heart’s content after the “blue incident” – that’s what I’m calling it now.
I’m enraged because I successfully allowed my mother to plant a seed of doubt in my mind. If I’m not able to find the culprit who allegedly planted the fake confetti, all other evidence points to Jayla and Amaya.
Did she really do this hoping to stop the marriage? Over my dead body.
But every single bit of my anger vanishes into thin air when I catch the first glimpse of Amaya walking down the aisle. My breath catches in my throat, my palms become sweaty.
Susana Beauty did a great job on the dress, just as I knew they would. Amaya looks angelic. The veil over her face makes her look ethereal – like a floating, mystic creature. Her bright red hair stands out in the midst of all the white. She looks like a goddess.
Jayla hands her over to me with a warning look, subtly asking me to remember my promise. Amaya’s fingers are as cold as ice. I can smell her fear and nervousness all the way from here, and that only feeds my ego.
I love her fear. I want her scared of me. Terrified. Because she’s right. I am a monster.
Our marriage will only be on paper. Nothing else will happen between us. I think.
“The bride is here, let the marriage rituals begin.” The goddess announces.
The priestess takes Amaya’s hand and places the sacred lotus flower in her palm. Lotus is a symbol of love and eternal togetherness in the BlueRivers Pack, the very two things that Amaya and I definitely do not need.
“Recite the sacred vows, Amaya.”
Amaya’s face is still firmly lowered to the ground. When she speaks, her voice is soft and barely audible, but I can still hear her. I have a feeling that I’d hear her even in a room filled with noise.
“On this auspicious day, I give myself and my life to you, Alpha Caesar Manchester. I solemnly vow to be obedient and submissive to you and you alone. I vow to… love you and honour you until death do us part. I vow to be a good wife and a devoted mother to our children.” She turns to the priestess who hands her a ring.
“With this ring, I seal my vows. So help me, goddess.”
She tries to slide the ring onto my finger but she’s trembling and her fingers are shaky.
Without thinking, I place my palm on her hand to guide her, Amara reacts as though she’s been electrocuted.
She snatches her hand away immediately and steps back, eliciting whispers from the crowd of guests.
My insides churn with annoyance and I mutter through gritted teeth;
“What are you doing, Amaya?”
“I’m so sorry. She whispers in response.
I notice the swell of her chest as she takes a deep breath to calm her nerves. I notice how hard she tries to stiffen hee fingers too, to stop them from shaking. It’s safe to say that I’m so attuned to this woman, not one action of hers goes unnoticed.

She finally slides the ring onto my finger and it’s time for me to say my own vows;
“On this auspicious day, I give myself and my life to you, Amara Miller.” Lies. My life will only ever belong to me.

“I solemnly vow to love and to protect you. I vow to honour and respect you. I vow to be a loving husband and a devoted father to our kids. With this ring, I seal my vows. So help me, goddess.”
I slide my ring onto her finger and feel her trene
against me.
“By the power vested on me by the Moon goddess, I pronounce you man and wife. You
Amaya stiffens. Her entire body language screams; ‘do we have to do this?‘

your bride.”
Overcome with impatience, I take one step towards her and she almost takes a corresponding step backwards, but I stop her just in time. I wrap my arms around her tiny waist and pull her forward. She tumbles against my chest with a gasp of shock.
“What are you afraid of, Firefly?” The tip of my nose brushes against the shell of her ear and blood rushes to my cock in torrents as I breathe in her delicious, vanilla scent.
“It’ll just be a short, simple kiss.”
I keep my arms firmly wrapped around her lower back to steady her, then I slowly lift her veil. When the veil is out of the way and I finally get to see her face, my heart gets stuck in my throat.
Her makeup is refreshingly light, revealing the sharp contours of her perfectly high cheekbones and her smooth, baby soft
cheeks.
Amaya Manchester is beautiful. My wife is beautiful.
Looking at her, I’m suddenly overcome with a strong, possessive feeling. I want to sweep her out of the hall and keep her locked up
in my tower forever. I want to give her more reasons to actually believe I’m a monster.
Desire unfurls in my chest as I devour her heavy, rosebud lips with my eyes. She tries to escape but I wrap my fingers around her nape and pull her closer, almost lifting her off her feet.
“You’re mine now, Amaya. Only mine.”
Without giving her chance to protest, I slam my lips against hers in a hard, long kiss.
Yes, I lied. There will be nothing short or simple about this kiss. don’t care if there’s a crowd watching. Let them see that she’s mine.
Everything is going my way until I feel a sharp, piercing pain deep within the confines of my heart. Amaya clutches my shirt with her fingers, holding on tight.
Suddenly, I feel it again. That painfully restless feeling. That sensation of crawling out of my skin. My wols is growling art purring in my ear. It’s fighting to be set free.
I stagger backwards and press my fingers against my forehead, trying to make sense of everything that’s going on. Then I hear it. It’s a low chant in my brain. A never ending chant. My wolf is speaking to me, and all it says is: “mate, male, mate!”
Suddenly, all my senses come alive and I smell her. A light, heady, delicious scent. The smell of my mate.
