Bella scoffed, “Why on earth is she joining an old friends‘ reunion? She doesn’t even belong here.”

Lenora was puzzled, could it be the Isla she knew?
Following that, Bella said, “Fay, later you’ll come with me to the private room next door.”
“What’s wrong?”
“Axel is here, and Adonis and the others are welcoming him.”
Jermaine had mentioned this to Bella before, but she hadn’t expected such a coincidence. They were at the same club, even in adjacent private rooms. If it hadn’t been for spotting that fool, Isla, she would have remained completely unaware.
“All right, I understand.”
Lenora understood. She recalled her conversation a few days ago with Ezekiel. Ezekiel had expressed his concern about how she was adapting to life in Fairlake, even mentioning that he would be visiting the city in a few days.
Meanwhile, at the booth next door.
A group of young people of similar ages were gathered around a round table, upon which a lavish feast
was laid out.
“Come on, Ezekiel, let’s have a drink,” Wesley said, filling up the glass with a smile on his face.
“Come.”
“Come, Ezekiel, it’s been a while since we last met. This time, we must have a good drink,” Jermaine said with a laugh.
He had consumed quite a bit to drink, his face already tinged with a hint of flush.
Others around raised their glasses in a toast to Ezekiel,
“Enough.”
After downing a glass of wine, Ezekiel immediately waved his hand. “Just got off the plane, I really can’t handle another drink.”
“Ezekiel, this won’t do.”
“Hahaha, Ezekiel, Jermaine said you couldn’t do it! Aren’t you going to prove him wrong?”
Just then, Isla walked in. “Prove what?”
“It’s nothing,” Wesley replied with a smile.

Jermaine quickly changed the subject.
The atmosphere inside the private room was buzzing with excitement.

A few old friends, who hadn’t seen each other in a long time, gathered and joyfully conversed over drinks.
Bella held a wine glass in her hand, knocked on the door twice, and walked right in. “What a coincidence.”
The chatter within the private room came to a sudden halt as all eyes turned toward the entrance. There, stood Lenora and Bella, each drawing a different kind of attention.
Lenora calmly scanned the private room, taking in everyone present–Ezekiel, Jermaine, Isla, Wesley, and three other people she didn’t recognize.
Isla really was here.
It seemed that the ‘foolish pig‘ Bella had been referring to earlier was indeed her.
Since both of them were from the affluent families of Fairlake, it wasn’t surprising that they knew each other.
“What are you here for?” Isla was the first to speak, her tone far from friendly.
Upon seeing Lenora behind Bella, she expressed a moment of surprise, following it with a sarcastic eye roll.
“It’s really true that birds of a feather flock together. Bella and Lenora, both such bothersome characters, have ended up together. How utterly annoying.”
“Why is it any of your business?” Bella retorted immediately, not giving an inch.
“Isla!”
Isla wanted to say something more, but Wesley silenced her.
Jermaine rose to his feet. “Bella, Lenora, are you two here as well? Come over and sit, I’ll ask the waiter to add two more seats.”
“No need, we came here today to celebrate Fay finding a new job. We heard you guys were here too, so Fay and I thought we’d drop by to say hi. We’ll just chat for a bit and then leave. After all, someone here is a bit of a buzzkill,” Bella hinted.
Her two other friends were still next door, she never intended to stay in the first place.
Found a new job?
Jermaine cast a puzzled glance at Wesley. Wasn’t Lenora working at Saleel Photography?
Wesley’s expression remained unchanged
“You…” Isla stood up abruptly upon hearing Bella’s sarcastic remarks about her.
“All right, both of you need to cool it!” a friend intervened, glancing at Ezekiel. “Give Axel some respect.”

Wesley tugged at Isla, who reluctantly sat down.
Bella didn’t say much else, she simply greeted Ezekiel. “Axel, it’s been a while.”

“It’s been a while, Bella,” Ezekiel’s lips curled into a smirk as he looked toward Lenora. “Nora, I didn’t expect to run into you here. I was planning to look for you in a couple of days. How have you been finding your first month here?”
Lenora walked in. “Pretty good, East…”
“Axel, how did you two meet?”
Upon hearing Ezekiel converse with Lenora in such a familiar tone, Isla’s expression shifted, interrupting their conversation.
Ezekiel turned his head and gave her a glance, his smile faint. “Isla, do you know Lenora?”
Isla glanced at Lenora, her eyes filled with a warm smile. She pursed her lips as she said, “We’ve met twice, we’re not close.”
They weren’t just strangers; they had a grudge between them.
Lenora was a photographer. Suddenly, Isla thought of Ezekiel, who also had a passion for photography and was somewhat well–known. However, due to certain circumstances related to his identity, he couldn’t pursue a career in photography.
Years ago, when Ezekiel arrived in Fairlake, he met Wesley through their shared interest in photography and became acquainted with Zephyr through work. Unexpectedly, these two also knew each other, and through them, he came to know Isla.
Having known Isla for only a short time, he had quickly grasped her character. He noticed a change in Isla’s expression but chose not to mention it, simply saying, “I see.”
Sweeping his gaze over the crowd at the table, Ezekiel spoke. “Allow me to introduce you all to Lenora. She’s not only my friend, but also my student. She’s new to Fairlake, so if you get the chance, please take good care of her.”
“Of course!”
“Your friends are my friends too, rest assured.”
Wesley tugged at the corner of his lips, not uttering a word.
He suddenly recalled that not too long ago, Ezekiel had reached out to him, mentioning that he had shared his contact details with a friend.
His friend was planning to visit Muprary. If she stayed in Fairlake as a photographer, she might reach out to him for some assistance.
But Wesley waited for a long time, yet no one reached out to him.
He had assumed that Ezekiel’s friend had not stayed in Fairlake, or perhaps had not pursued a career in photography.

With a warm smile on her face, Lenora raised her glass. “I owe a great deal to Ezekiel for introducing me to Jermaine and Bella. It’s thanks to them that I was able to settle in so quickly. Meeting all of you here today is my honor. Without further ado, I’d like to propose a toast to you all.”
“No problem.”
With a slight smirk, Isla glanced around. Everyone else had already raised their wine glasses. Silently, she rolled her eyes.
Ezekiel picked up the wine glass from the table and stood up, clinking glasses with Lenora. “Don’t be polite with them. Feel free to reach out if you need anything in the future.”
Lenora downed her glass, then chuckled. “All right.”
“We’ve said our hellos and had our drinks, it’s time for us to head back,” Bella said.
“All right, you may go back now.”
“Ezekiel, let’s catch up another day.”
“All right, when I have some time, I’ll take you out for a meal.”
Lenora and Bella left, casually closing the private room door behind them.
Jermaine looked at Wesley with curiosity. “What did Bella mean earlier? Celebrating Lenora’s new job? Didn’t Lenora already start working at Saleel Photography?”
Everyone turned their attention to Wesley simultaneously.
“A misunderstanding had occurred a few days ago, and she had already resigned from her position at Saleel Photography.”
Immediately, Wesley turned his gaze to Ezekiel to explain. “She got in through an interview, she didn’t reach out to me. I only just found out she’s a friend of Ezekiel’s.”
He glanced at Isla, hesitating to speak.
Isla said with disdain, “So what if she quit? Why make such a fuss about it? Isn’t it perfectly normal to quit if you can’t carry on?“.
It was all Bella’s fault, she just had to stick her nose in where it didn’t belong, she must have brought up this matter on purpose.
Following Wesley’s gaze, Ezekiel glanced at Isla. He toyed with the wine glass in his hand and asked casually, “What misunderstanding?”
