A moment later, he pulled two ice packs out of the bag:
“What’s wrong?”
My face instantly turned red with embarrassment.
“Nothing, nothing at all.”
But he wasn’t backing down, still teasing me with a smirk.
“What do you think this is?”
“Stop it, Hector!”
I tried to push him away, but he lost his balance and fell on top of me, rolling us both a few
times on the bed.
Is this what they call rolling in the sheets?
“Knock knock-”
There was a loud knocking on the door.
“Joanna, open the door!”
It was Ruben!
I felt like I’d been caught cheating, my guilt making me want to hide.
Hector handed me the ice packs and patted my head:
“Put these on yourself. Don’t worry, I’ll check who it is.”
The moment Hector opened the door, Ruben barged in, searching frantically for me like a cop chasing a criminal.
He stormed into the guest bedroom, saw me lying on the bed, and misunderstood what was

His anger flared even more. He grabbed my wrist and yanked me off the hed
“Joanna, have you no shame?”
“Just yesterday, you were all over me, and today you’re rolling around with another man
“Can’t you have some self–respect?”
I shrugged off my coat and pulled up my sexy nightgown.
“Smack-”
I slapped him back, the same way I had earlier today.
“We… are… broken… up!” I said each word slowly.
He licked his lips and sneered:
“Broken up? Did I agree to that?”
“Without me, you’re nothing!”
“Everything you’re wearing was bought by me!”
“Joanna, I know you. You’re the type of woman who worships money. You wouldn’t leave
me, a rich kid, for a poor guy like him!”
In the year we’d been together, he’d learned all my weak points.
He knew exactly how to hurt me.
But this time, I didn’t argue or compromise.
Instead, in front of both him and Hector, I took off my nightgown and threw it, along with
my coat, at him.
“Is this enough for you? If not, I can take more off!”
