Two days later, I received a call from the police.
They said Jackson had confessed to everything, and they would be filing charges with the
People’s Court.
month later, I received another notification from the police.
Jackson was sentenced to two years and seven months for illegally selling others‘ property in a large amount and for defamation.
As soon as the police news came out, Jackson’s name topped Twitter’s trending list again after a month and a half.
Well… I don’t know what to say.
Nine out of ten citizens called him a “kept man,” and the other one diagnosed him as an
idiot.
I didn’t feel sorry for him and his mother.
They were both caught in their own traps.
After Jackson’s sentencing, I thought the whole thing was finally over.
Until one night, as I was leaving work, I heard someone calling my name.
I knew that voice all too well. It could only be Jackson’s mother.
It had been nearly three months since I had last seen her. Her hair had turned white, her face was sallow, and she looked like she had aged by ten years.
Ignoring the curious glances from those around her, she grabbed my wrist. “Little Sun, do you remember me?”
“What do you want?” I pulled my hand away and got straight to the point.
Jackson’s mother’s face changed. She suddenly knelt down and grabbed my clothes,

wailing, “Little Sun, I’m begging you! Just let Jack off this time! He’s still young. If he really goes to prison, how will our mother and son survive?”
Don’t worry, as long as you can get Jack out, I promise I’ll take him back to my hometown and never bother you again!
What was she saying?
Was she trying to bargain with me?
I turned to leave, but she grabbed my leg. “You can’t leave! You haven’t agreed! I won’t let you go!”
This is just too familiar. The same pattern, the same shameless audacity.
I said: “First, I have no reason to help someone who has hurt me. Jackson has done nothing to deserve my sympathy.”
“Second, Jackson violated the criminal code, not the civil code. Even if I wanted to, I don’t have the right or the ability to get him out.”
“Third, I’m only being lenient because you’re old. If you continue to harass me, I won’t hesitate to report it to the police.”
At my words, Jackson’s mother’s face immediately contorted. She looked at me with hatred,
As I turned and took two steps, I heard a voice behind me, Jackson’s mother’s desperate cry: “You vile bitch! I’m going to kill you!!!”
Then, there was a “bang”
Jackson’s mother was pinned to the ground by the security guards at the front of the S building. The knife lay some distance away. She was pointing at me with wild eyes, yelling.
Not long after, I received news about the mother and son.
Jackson’s appeal was denied, and his mother was sentenced for attempted murder.
It’s actually quite funny. No one ever expected that they would end up reunited in prison.
